Looks like they are hiring for their new Asheboro Plant. American made goods. The entire supply chain of materials in most cases. Grown, harvested, woven, dyed, and manufactured in the states. Been trying to figure out where they were going and they made it official yesterday I think. Video is older though. So if you know anyone that used to work in denim, or is looking now, in that area they need to get on it. There are a lot of things I like about what they are doing and what they stand for. It ain't cheap, but it certainly looks like good stuff. Gonna start finding out soon. Especially knowing the hoodie is woven in NC too.

FWIW, this is the company Jocko Willink is also involved in. Found it through listening to him. Mostly ignored the commercials. But he interviewed Pete a while back and I love his philosophy on Made in America.

Yep, I turned some Jiu Jitsu friends on to their Gi's. They make a very nice Gi, and their clothes seem very nice too. If you watch their video when they opened up that shop with the old loom, is so cool. Glad to see them here.

Where is it sold, factory outlet?

this is just manufacturing right now. All retail is here afaik. Like I said, it ain’t cheap. But it looks and sounds like it’s made right, no compromise.

DM @pete.origin on instagram per his post regarding the official announcement of buying the White Oak Cone Mills plant.

Schweet!

Uhmmm... do we have any cotton / weave mills left in NC? 😳

We have a few, and one that's getting up fit and going full speed soon now. 👍BTW, they just released a heavy pullover and the fabric is woven in NC. They show it in the video. Looks like that was the main reason they came down, and looking into the plant was something that just came up.

Asheboro is also home to Texas Jeans, made in USA too.
As for these jeans - any idea on fit? I read about the 68 jean, but I dont see how it's cut etc

Nice to see a textile plant in NC. The normal guy may not be a buyer but like Nike I’m sure someone will pay $168 for a pair of jeans.

Get the word out and they'll sell.
120 bucks is more than I spend...but if the fit and color was right I'd be willing to get a pair.
And there are MUCH more expensive jeans out there that get sold all the time, like Raleigh in...well, Raleigh. They run about 250 (that said, you buy them very uncut and then they hem them to your preference). My friend had a men's clothing store that specialized in American-made clothing, sold a couple pair a week in their small shop in WS.

I've had two pair of Origin jeans since October 2019. Yes, I paid $214 for two pair of jeans, it works out to about $4.50/ month so far.

They have outlasted most other jeans I've worn.

I've worn them working outside and to some of the most expensive restaurants in Las Vegas. They still look new, fit well and are the most comfortable jeans I've worn.

Would I buy them for hard use everyday.... maybe.. maybe not.

They run a little bit big, I wear somewhere between a 36-38. I have the jeans in a 38 and can carry IWB without issue. If I were to get a pair to not carry IWB, I'd go down to 36.

They are building a lifestyle brand like LL Bean used to be. Might still be, I don't know. But once you get turned on/hooked on their stuff you buy everything you can from them. Maybe it's hype, but they say the Echelon Front Musters (Jocko's company) looks like an Origin fashion show. So you have a market that's all in on your management/lifestyle business, your health supplement business, and your clothing business. Hell of a marketing strategy. And when you make stuff that's as good as they do, like @NCMedic said above, the cost/value equation works out nicely too.

I'm going to pick up some shorts at some point. I found some Carhartt's I liked and they were tough. Went back to get more and they changed the style. The one's I bought were crap and have holes all in them. Totally different, and worse, fabric. So putting out some money for something that will last would make me happier.

Everyone wants American made goods until they see the price of American made goods.

If you want cheap you'll buy chinese. If you want American quality you'll pay American prices. I'm happy to support local / American made goods

Yeah, not always the case. Frequently not the case. But sometimes the case. American made does not equal quality.

Glad to see more made-in-the-USA products for sure, and very happy they are in NC boosting our economy.

Seems like this is a good thread to bump up in light of the recent carhartt nonsense! Can we get a new wear report @NCMedic?
Looks like they have a new video up of the factory too.
Origin Jeans Made in NC!

I'm still on my original two pair from 10/2019.
I've worn them in high-end Las Vegas restaurants with a dress shirt and climbing through the woods without complaint.

Generally speaking since I'm short, I am hard on the hems since I end up dragging them.

Not an issue here. Probably also helps that they are one of the few places that will do a 28 inseam.

Next area that tends to wear heavy is the pocket edges from knife clips.
PXL_20220124_131455234.jpg

Again, not a issue.

No crotch issues either... last few pairs of Duluth jeans have blown the crotch out.

Have they lighted up significantly? Yes, but this is expected. They have "softened" but haven't "thinned" if that makes sense.Stiching and rivets are all still good

I bought a size up to be able to carry IWB. I wouldn't do that next time, they are relaxed enough that it's not a issue.

What does the Asheboro factory make? Do they have a storefront?

Looks like from their website they have their hands in a bunch of products.

RE: jeans, the most durable jeans I I have are Kirkland from Costco. I think they are made by Levis?

Edited, I just saw how much their jeans are. Eff that. In no universe am I paying $120ish bucks for denim. Kirkland it is.

I’ve paid more for worse things. You are also on a forum with a some guys that pay a lot more than that for things they either rarely use or never use. I could probably wear a durable pair of jeans for 10 years if I treated them well. That seems to be a pretty good lifespan for a $120 item.

I am not going to belittle someone for what they buy or don't buy. I was raised on hand-me-down jeans from a cousin who was 6" taller; my mom either cuffed the hell out of them or just cut them off with scissors. Hem? Never heard of it. My Kirkland jeans have lasted 7 years. No, 6 years. And those are my outdoors/work jeans. Denim is one of the cheapest cuts of cloth though. I am a capitalist, so good one them for a 10,000% markup and making a buck, and better on them for getting after a factory in NC where they employ North Carolinians and contribute to the economy.

I don’t mind spending more for good, quality, made in USA stuff. The problem I have is a company starts building stuff here and charges top dollar, then moves manufacturing overseas after they get established but STILL charges US made prices.

Not sure if there was any belittling done by anyone, just pointing out the obvious. As for hand-me-downs, I wore lots of them as a kid who’s father couldn’t be bothered to work regularly. I would be happy to buy a few pair of overpriced jeans if they are supporting a NC worker. To each his own, I’m sure they will do well regardless of either of our opinions.

The triple stitching explains a lot; labor intensive and definitely adds to durability. Really glad to see the investment in North Carolina; I still remember reading when Pillowtex closed up shop and all their people were just essentially abandoned. I hope they list with the Got To Be NC program with Ag since it looks like they are or will be sourcing local cotton: https://gottobenc.com/ http://www.nccotton.org/

I too have some Kirkland denim jeans. The are definitely not made by Levi's; they've lasted way longer than any Levi's jean I've ever had.

Origin USA will not do that. If you have not taken the time to look them up, give them a try. You might like the brands story.

I’ll do that. I love US made stuff. Buy once, cry once. My dad always said that poor people can’t afford to buy cheap crap, it always breaks and you have to buy it again and now you’ve spent more money than if you’d just bought good stuff to start with.

I agree, with some things that is true. But jeans? It's a crazy conversation for sure...people will defend not-made-in-the-US optics like Holosun (or whomever), then spend $80 for a Wagyu steak. Again, not arguing about what people choose to buy or not buy. Just pointing out we're probably all hypocrites in the conversation.

But anywho, and more importantly, since I posted on this thread I am getting all sorts of ads elsewhere popping up...

@Chuckman the price point really depends on your market. If you are used to buying jeans at big box stores, it's crazy priced. If you get them free twice a year as a work uniform it's even crazier, though I'm getting some Origin shorts this year. If you buy them at the mall, they are just kind of pricey. If you already get upper end pants, they are pretty on par as far as I've heard. And they are working on being a lifestyle brand. Not just the cheapest thing on the market. And with the connections to Jocko and Echelon Front you are pulling a lot of urban/suburban professionals into the brand. That's a good market for nicer, higher end stuff.

FWIW, about the only thing they don't do is grow the cotton and make the hardware. And all of that stuff is sourced in the US. They bought a plant in NC to be closer to the cotton sources. Their sweatshirts are made from NC cloth too. Not sure if in part or in total but they are working with a NC company there. +6

@chiefjason , Good points. I really like your point about bringing an end a different clientele. There is something to be said about the "lifestyle brand." That sure is what happened with the coffee with a lot of veteran owned coffee makers.

The Jocko thing, I always scratch my head over that. He's turned himself into his own brand leveraged on his military service. Why not though? It worked for Vickers and Pat McNamara and all the rest. But Jocko, I mean his podcasts are okay, but I never really caught on to him like a lot of people have.

Added to add, it looks like a great brand, and I'm very very happy they are in North Carolina giving our neighbors and friends and family jobs and generally improving economic life. I just don't think their price point is all.

I could not care less about “Jocko” or “lifestyle” but, I could use a heavy duty crew neck sweatshirt.

The revival of this thread got me to scour their website and it looks like they have a nice (albeit expensive) sweatshirt. I don’t care for the kangaroo pouch in the front but could probably live with it.

I may give them a try and spend too much on one item to support what they’re doing. I really dislike the cult of personality many of these brands create but that’s the social media world we now live in. I would like to show support for the concept.

I just need to find a place to look at one and try it on for proper sizing. If I get one I’ll report back…

I'm a huge fan, lol. Driving for a living helps. I've got lots of time. For those that don't have it, it either grabs your or does not. Depending on when you listened, there is a huge difference between his style and podcast quality from early on to now. I probably picked it up mid 100's but have gone back to older ones. Way less quality in the first 20-30 podcasts. Keep in mind, the podcast was an afterthought and folks were asking him to do it. So he walked into an audience because of his Echelon Front work. And he got in early and your best shot at success is when you are the only guy in the space doing that thing. He's not big enough that he's pushing/sponsoring other podcasts from vets.

That said, some of his stuff is off the charts great and some is put me to sleep boring. When he goes hard on military minutia he tends to loose me. Like some of his podcasts on manuals and the long one on incompetent military leaders was hard to get through. His ones with Tilt and on Chesty Puller were amazing.

I wear XL or 2xl if I want more room. I ordered an XL hoodie. It fits well, but probably more snug than I'm used to in a hoodie. I'll be getting a 2x if I order another one. They seem pretty true to size because I prefer an XL long sleeve shirt but tend towards 2X in button ups and jackets.

FWIW, it's the most comfortable, softest, and probably warmest hoodie/sweat I've worn. I love that thing. Their regular is pretty thick/warm. I want to get a heavy for my daughter but they have been out of stock in the color she wants for a while.

Good luck Brother! Carhartt used to make a great crew neck mid to heavy duty sweat shirt. Not anymore! The ones that I’ve got left are quickly turning into rags. Duluth Trading comp did make some good ones. I ordered 2, a large and an xl to see which one fit the best. The large was great. I went to send the XL back and they had quit making them! Then to add insult to injury, whil feeding the dog one morning, I left my sweatshirt in her pen. I looked everywhere for that thing. I found it a couple days later, ripped to shreds! Damn dog get mad when she’s penned up and destroys anything in the pen with her!

Do you have room for my coworker?

I just looked at their website and crewnecks. A tad pricey, but they look good . I like everything except the colors and the pockets. I want greens, tans and browns, and they can keep the pockets. That’s what happened to the Duluth sweatshirt, they make a heavy sweatshirt, but it has a chest pocket that cant be cut off.
