Not in a gun shop, but my neighbor. He called me last weekend and asked if I could put together a stripped lower. He had bought a complete PSA MOE Freedom upper, and a stripped lower with the name SWAT on it, with a Anderson lpk. So I told him to bring it over, and give me just a bit and I'd have it put together. After the build, he came over to pick it up, and I asked him if he knew how to run it, all the controls, etc. Nope, nothing. I then asked about mags and ammo. Nope, nothing. Said he'd buy a couple "clips" and a couple boxes of ammo soon. I jokingly told him that he bought the wrong style of rifle if he was gonna buy "clips", lol. I told him to find what he could, and to set a Sunday aside to go to PHA with me so I could show him how to use his new blaster.
From a guy running a table at a gun show last year. GBT( guy behind table)
Customer: Hey man, I'm looking for a Glock 19
GBT: I would suggest a Glock 23 in 40
Customer: Why a 40 over 9mm
GBT: 9mm hollow points just goes in a bad guy straight through, because the hole is so small in the end, you can only hope it hits something vital.
40 hollow points goes in and expands, and then tumbles, doing traumatic damage to bad guy.
So I asked where in the hell he got his information on that load.
He says his buddy in Texas was a Texas Ranger, and had told him many stories of said info.
I just shook my head and walked away. The customer said something to him and walked away, and caught up to me and asked me what I carried. I told him a G-19, and that he would be fine with a 9mm and good quality ammo, and train properly how to use it. He thanked me, and walked off.
And just think, someone out there I'm sure believed that load of crap and followed his recommendation on "fowty".
