Possible national lock down coming soon

Soo, who types up these essential papers?

Or does ones company just dictate on their own letterhead that they’re essential?
Company letterhead, corporate dorks cited the CDC announcement that said we are an essential industry and need to be allowed to go to/from work. Signed/dated by local management, second page had their employee profile photo and their immediate manager's, along with date of hire, title, etc, with a spot for the employee to put their name and sign/date.
Like many IDs, it would be easy to forge and would hold up to low level scrutiny.

Being serious, how would you see that type of scenario playing out in real life?

Well he'd be known all over the internet much like the Lavoy guy or whatever

Hey guys, a reliable source, sorry cant say who..., told me TOMORROW is the possible national lockdown...

What are you standing up to brother? Who has impeded your right to travel at this point?

Have you been reading the thread? It's turned to a discussion about travel papers after a government lockdown... But everyday there's a new place I'm not allowed to go... Can't even get a haircut after Wednesday...

Dude, Ive read this thread. It's also a thread where we got people who 'know' stuff and how this lockdown is coming tomorrow. Today. In twelve minutes. Whatever.

Yeah, so some letters about who is 'essential,' ok. But so what, how has it been used AT ALL so far here?

Dont get all riled up for something that hasnt even happened and MAY NOT happen.

Settle down Francis... We're what-iffing... I'm just doing the same... If this lockdown BS happens, I won't be a party to it...

This crap is utterly and laughably ridiculous.

Lockdown? Hahaha. No thanks. Don’t think anyone should play along.

Luckily we have you to straighten us all out and make sure we’re thinking right.

I wish I could stay home, but if this thread is any indication I'm going to be too busy putting myself at risk caring for all the people who think this is a joke and are going to carry on like normal.

Sure hope none of you chest thumping rugged individualists have diabetes, high BP, COPD, asthma, any sort of organ dysfunction, or are getting on in years.

I would recommend those meeting the conditions mentioned def quarantine.

I hope none of those old folks planned on retiring this year, and to think they’re already 70 and put in an extra few to save. Because their retirement money will be worth less than the iPhone theyre pulling up the numbers on. Savings in the bank? Hope they planned for some serious decline is purchasing power when hyper inflation kicks in.

I’ll be one of your patients in 5 years because THEN I’ll have diabetes from eating all these damn pop tarts dipped in peanut butter. Ughh it’s so delicious though.

I learned a long time ago that the dude talking the most sh#t stops being tough if you hit them in the face a few times. I remember before the first assault weapons ban all the tough guy talk in the gun shops and at gun shows. Then they got banned and you didn't hear squat.

On the surface your hypothesis of why would people be out driving around if everything is close is a very sane thought ... the flaw in it is that it assumes those idiots out there driving with nowhere to go are sane. They are out wasting time and going nowhere like their bodies and brains waste oxygen every other day. :D

I ride around on my motorcycle all the time just going nowhere.
Sometimes on the bike I try to get lost going nowhere.

Hell, last Thursday I took the MR2 out just to cruise around a bit. Drove about 45/60 minutes with nowhere in mind, just driving.

That doesn’t count ... that’s mental therapy. :D

I hear you and commiserate with you on one level. On another, no one else is paying my bills or providing what my family needs to survive. I'm the one that has to make the call on what is necessary for my life because, quite frankly, no one sitting in Raleigh or DC will know or care if we starve, our house is foreclosed on, or we lack other basic necessities of life. I'm not chest thumping, but I will do what it takes to take care of those whom God has entrusted to me. Roy Cooper has already shut most of my business down, but I'm doing what I can to adapt to the situation and it is working, thus far.

I won't be out wasting gas driving around aimlessly. Neither will I be picking fights or looking for a confrontation with the "Let me see your papers" crowd. I prefer to fly under the radar and avoid all that. If I can take care of my own within the limitations of a lock-down, I will. If I can't, I'll do what I have to do. In the end, I'm accountable solely to Him.

Best post in thread and on the entire subject.

Have I been under a rock the last couple of days? What 'lockdown'?

I've only seen shelter, don't travel, no groups, etc. But no lockdown.

WBT reported this morning that a conference call with Cooper is happening today and that Meck at least is seriously considering "shelter in place" order, AKA lockdown. Citing county commisioners think that people aren't taking this seriously and the top doc of the county, I forget who that is, wants it anyway.

I saw a group of police officers on an empty lot on Gilead Rd. the other day looking around. I thought about it for a moment and realized it would be the perfect stop and detain spot for people trying to leave the subdivisions and head towards Beatties Ford. A perfect parking lot. It's empty, flat because the house that was on it was demolished for some reason.

OTOH, it is for sale and maybe one of them is considering buying it and I am too distrustful of our elected officials and their army.

Edit: State doing update now. Roy isn't there. Good sign. Statewide at least.

The "leaders" in Charlotte have consistently wanted it to be more like the bigger cities; it looks like they have gotten their wish.

So cutting back testing so all the Just Flu folks will feel better:

1:55 p.m.: Wake County health officials are scaling back on testing for the new coronavirus, noting that "community spread" of viral infections warrants a more focused approach

and no more permits in Wake Co
.

2:35 p.m.: Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker said no pistol purchase or concealed carry permits can be requested through the end of April to try to keep the new coronavirus out of the sheriff's office. The hiatus will give deputies a chance to catch up on the backlog of pending permits, he said.

Nearly 300 people a day have applied for permits so far this year, more than triple the number last year, officials said.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office already is quarantining in individual cells new people booked into the detention center and has, with permission of state courts, halted serving civil papers and carrying out evictions to limit the spread of the virus.

And it's smash and grab time in Orange Co
.:

2:20 p.m.: To protect officers from the new coronavirus, various law enforcement agencies, including the Orange County Sheriff's Office and police departments in Durham, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, aren't dispatching officers to non-violent 911 calls, such as fraud, property damage or larceny cases where the thief has fled. Instead, officers will complete incident reports over the phone, or people can complete the reports themselves online, the departments said.

Yep. Evidently a lockdown was announced to start at 8a tomorrow (Thursday)? Wife texted me that, but I haven’t gone anywhere to look.

Told my kids one evening that I was going for a ride. They asked where ... I said just around the block. Got home an hour+ later and they said they thought I was "just going around the block". I told them I went the long way through the country :D Yamaha FZ1

Happening in High Point too apparently. I saw on Nextdoor a thread about some guys going house to house and seeing if they can pilfer from cars and sheds. They were spotted, description, car description, license plate, everything capture. Resident called the police, they basically said thank you and hung up. Only after they were in a shed and another resident with poor marksmanship shot at them did the cops even come and take a report.

Meck went and did it!

The banner at the bottom of the Spectrum News says 3/26-4/16. Didn't catch the time if they gave it
Yeah, I read through the document after I posted. All kinds of exceptions.

Why would you ever want to call the police for anything to begin with?
