I have a budget of + or- $2k..... Requirements are that it is light weight,mil/mil and durable. This rifle will be used for hunting and plinking out to 800 yards or so. What do you guys think are the best options out there? The vortex razor 3 1-10 looks awesome but the weight is not so awesome. I don't mind upping my budget if the gains are worth the $$$

If I was in the market for a 1-10, the Vortex would be my choice. I don’t think the weight is as bad as you think. They managed to keep the weight the same as their 1-6 and it’s lighter than a most comparable scopes. Could always get a Scalar works LEAP mount and save some ounces there.

The Trijicon 1-8s have been on sale (870 at midway USA last I looked). They are really nice but not quite 1-10. Hard to beat for the $.

My poor sad little 1-4... So dated...
nothing wrong with a 1-4 have several on 556 and 300bo rifles. Just want to be able to take longer range shots on 10x that I am simply not skilled enough to make at 4x. Definitely an indian and not the arrow situation.

I get it. It's just amazing to me how much better scopes have gotten in the last 10 years or so.

I’d really like to check out the 1-10 razor and think it would be awesome on a 308 set up. If you do decide to go that route I’d like to hear how it does.

The Razor III 1-10 is not heavy at all. It's half an ounce heavier than the NF ATACR 1-8. It's a nice small package. Here is a pic of the Razor II 1-6, Razor III 1-10 and the PST Gen II 1-6. I will be heading out with the 1-10 tomorrow to zero and put some rounds down range. Can't wait!

Well I made it to the range today with the 1-10x mounted on my 20" PSA .308 AR. I got it sighted in at 50 yards and then went over to the 550 yard range. I tried the rifle with the 155 Steel Match ammo first but that ammo was not that accurate in the rifle to begin with so I was almost using it as foulers as the barrel was freshly cleaned. It hit at 200 and 300 using the BDC but at 400 and 550 it was dancing around the plates. Misses were more due to ammo than the reticle as even when I held to make the correction it would go another way. I connected a couple times but more of a luck thing.

I then pulled out the 168 AMAX and hit one for one all the way out to 550 yards using the MOA BDC reticle. Once at 550 I sat there and just dropped rounds on the 12" plate and then went over to the 10" plate and did the same. 400 yard was an 8" plate. I am very happy with the BDC as I was with the JM-1 in my 1-6x scopes. No issues with parallax at the longer ranges. Targets were plenty clear enough also to make the hits even with the heavy mirage today. The book says that a 168 at 2600fps will track with the reticle but mine were at 2539fps average and hitting. With the extra hold marks under I don't see why longer holds would not be achievable as well.

All in all I am very happy with the 1-10x. I might pop it over to a shorter 18" .223 and play with some close targets next to see how the reticle works close in. Might have to shoot out to 550 with it too and see how it works. At the range today I didn't use the illumination at all on 10x and had no issues seeing the reticle for zeroing or the 200 yard shots.

Pretty sure you sealed the deal for me on this one.... Thank you for posting up your experience! I %100 trust your reviews.

Glad to have helped and if you were closer I’d let you take a first hand look. It really is a sweet little package. Haven’t heard of anyone who had one in hand and wasn’t happy with it. I am sure you will enjoy it.
