Georgia shooting of a black man

...ya, so far...but can we all agree he ain't the "yes ma'am, no ma'am" type of guy he was described as??

You can't just go park in a public field to "rap" without getting asked a couple of questions.

Let's see how it all goes...
Since we are in a public forum I will keep my thoughts on those officers actions and value as members of society to myself and ask, why not? This is America, I should be able to go in to a public field and rap all I want, so should this guy. I don’t see the problem here except on the part of two tyrannical and obviously too scared to do their jobs “public servants”

Leave the poor little electrician alone.

and for all you that believe this happens only to innocent law abiding people of color, I myself have been questioned numerous times about being in places that I had every right to be, especially while in the field.

I've gone and parked my car in various places and whipped out an acoustic and jammed on music and sang some tunes as a young man.

I did have my shirt on, but if I had that dudes body I likely would have had it off, lol.

Who implied that here?

Who implied that here?

This thread (especially the first half) if full of implications and straight-up statements that skin color will get a fellow targeted for suspicion. Which is, of course, very true. It does. Crime stats and the glorification of gangsta/thug culture does not help that dynamic either. That's reality. Walks like a duck and all that. Similar rep as the Harley folks may get, statistically speaking, for wearing the gear.

Out in the country,
you park in a field, listening to rap music and smoking' weed or you're just there picking your nose
and the field doesn't belong to you,
99 times out of a hundred, the sheriff is going to be called.
You really believed that bullshit story the deputy was claiming about weed AFTER he said it was cigarettes then weed then cigarettes. And AFTER he claimed he saw plastic bag and seeds through tinted windows. And AFTER his Lieutenant didn't see or confirm any of that? He also never said he was listening to music....said he was working on music.

It was a public area.....the other deputy pointed that out when he was trying to justify the stop, tow, and any parking.

I'll let you figure that one out. It ain't very hard to do.
Oh, youre right, wouldnt be hard to see who implied he was harassed for being black and parked. It's A LOT easier when it's not in this thread.
So, do tell, who?

You see what you see and I something completely different. It's cool.

So the grass area he occupied was open to the public to park on?

You're assuming it wasn't(confirmation bias) rather than taking note of what actually happened on the screen right in front of you. He asked about towing the car and both the partner and LT said no. The partner said it wasn't legal to tow him and the LT said leave him out of it. In the end the car wasnt towed because they had no legal right to even though he was reaching for something. But you're right, we both saw it differently.

Yup.. Just too much trouble, too much public backlash, to much paper work, too much aggravation.
I have seen the police write tickets for parking in wrong areas of parks.

I doubt we will ever see things the same way, not wrong, just different.

Since it was a public park and assuming he paid his taxes, he did partially, own it.

Tried really hard to find a clip of Chapelle's Show where he has John Mayer play "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" for the police while he ran away.

Watching the “jogger” in the second video where he interacts with the cops, it’s clear that he’s violent, aggressive, and disrespectful. The fact that he (I assume) converted and became a Moslem tells me he’s probably radicalized and militant. Given the information on the housing visits, it’s not hard to infer that he’s disrespectful and this is backed by his language in the encounter. Given how it looked like he was about to attack the cop for approaching him I can take a pretty good guess at how he responded to the guys in the truck. It’s hard to tell by his accent, but it sounds like somewhere in the Caribbean and god only knows what sort of cultural values he was raised with.

In short, take away the color and your still left with what looks like an angry, violent, thuggish piece of trash who’s aggressive behavior ultimately got him taken out.

So the McMichaels had no fault in this at all?

Oh you’ll be jumped for this.
He was an electrician just looking for a place to study his craft.
But I do think you have him pretty much pegged.

My take away from the whole situation is the 3 people made extremely poor decisions that lead to this guy getting shot.

1. The guys in the truck really had zero business interacting with the guy imo, sure they were looking out for the neighborhood, but they should have just kept tabs on him until the cops arrived, if he got into a vehicle, get the tag number for the cops, and be a good a witness, grabbing a firearm and chasing someone down for trespassing isn’t that bright and probably isn’t legal, sure Texas allows you to shoot people caught in the act of B&E but you’re probably in deep dodo if you go pointing weapons at people for trespassing or petty theft UNLESS you’re on your own property, in that case “most” states would deem that a reasonable action while investigating a stranger on your property, but legally you can’t hold them at gunpoint and you dang sure can’t shoot them.

2. I could very well be off base here as well, but I’m willing to bet that if the “jogger” hadn’t attacked the guy with the shotgun, he probably wouldn’t have been shot let alone killed, even if the father & son did everything wrong through the whole ordeal, I highly doubt they intended to gun the guy down.

EDIT: I also just thought about something, if a couple of guys (regardless of race) pull up next to me and jump out of their vehicle brandishing a firearm the chances are extremely high I’d do my best to shoot the one with the gun, had those guys did the exact same thing to any number of us, both of those men would probably be dead.

I believe I read that in one of the early reports. I make the statement in reference to what I believe to be an honest recollection.
While not definitive about his religion, his funeral was at the New Springfield Baptist Church in Alexander, Georgia, with interment in the church cemetery.

That's how you get nice public parks looking like crap and become a place nobody wants to go.

What a decent human being would do is not drive onto a clean public field to tear up the landscape, and stand out there with a winter coat on and no shirt like a weirdo. - Some of you make this way too difficult. Grow up and stop making excuses for people that act like turdbags.

We already have enough of the going around and blasting that (c)rap at 120+dB . Oftentimes, they go to a public place, leave their vehicles while basting that ghetto noise just to piss everyone else off. Right or wrong, that sort of behavior does impact how people will judge others like the guy that got shot in this thread.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/ahmaud-a...g-arrested-on-charges-including-felony-murder

William "Roddie" Bryan Jr., the man who recorded the deadly February shooting of Georgia jogger Ahmaud Arbery, has been arrested on charges of felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday night.
Bryan will be booked into the Glynn County Jail.

The death of Arbery, an unarmed black man, was thrust into the national spotlight after cellphone video recorded by Bryan surfaced on social media, prompting outrage against local law enforcement.

For over 10 weeks after the Feb. 23 shooting, the investigation idled as the Glynn County Police Department largely looked the other way, critics said. Calls for justice grew after the video was leaked.
Bryan, the 50-year-old neighbor of Gregory and Travis McMichael, a white father and son accused of murdering Arbery, has changed his story multiple times since the video of the shooting came out.

Bryan initially claimed he was being a good Samaritan by recording Arbery's death, though that description quickly came under heavy scrutiny.

"He is a liar," Lee Merritt, an attorney hired by Arbery's mother, told Fox News, adding that Bryan's story had changed from saying he was trying to trap Arbery to now "launching a campaign to clear his name."
If he was a good Samaritan, he would have honked his horn. It's worth noting that on the video, he doesn't even flinch. He doesn't gasp. Shot after shot. He simply takes it all in," Merritt said.

Arbery's mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, also told Fox News she wasn't buying the "good neighbor" defense.

"Why would you videotape it? Why didn't he do anything to help? Why didn't he reach out right after the shooting? Why did he only come forward after the video was leaked?" she said during a telephone interview.
