Viper came in today, two connecting rod bearings wiped out.. These heads just look funny with 5 holes instead of 4 or six.. Pretty cramped engine bay as you can see.. This isn't going to be cheap..

There ain't a damn part on them that falls into the category of "cheap".
Yes there is. The evap purge solenoid is just one (same exact one I have on my XJ. They share a bunch of common parts with all kinds of Chrysler products. From a jeep Cherokee, to a Dakota and more. All depends on the year model.

Now, body panels? Yeah, those are pricey. As well as the actual engine and parts thereof.

Not sure,, this got shipped to us from Detroit already taken all apart. Why I dont know,, Maybe no one up there knows how to work on them or all repair facilities have been closed due to the virus. This is actually a true ACR and from what I understand was one of the Richard Petty track cars and they want it fixed so they can sell it. Im guessing the failure was due to loss of oil pressure thru the crank because both of the con rod bears that failed were in the same crank journal. All the other bearings including the crank bearings all look just fine. No overheating marks on the rods or crank which tells me they shut it down quickly when it started making noise. A new crank, new bearings all around some gaskets and all will be good again and ready for the auction block.

Why would you need a new crank?
Can't the journals be turned?

Yes,,, you could.. If it was your own vehicle and maybe the family beater ? But this level of performance/liability and maybe fairness to the next buyer for the next $60K plus buyer ? We need to make it right..

Smokey always said the main reason for rod bearing failure was detonation
You and Smokey might be on to something ? I was always a big fan of Smokey and being from Daytona beach, Ive had some interaction with him. I had the opportunity to work with him designing a drone engine engine for military usage that was light weight but produced high HP.. My part was to fabricate a motorcycle chassis to fit the engine in using a chain drive and run it on our motorcycle dyno. The only person I can think of that that knew more about engines and could think out side of the box was a prostock Motorcycle racer named Shawn Gann. Gann passed away recently at a young age. I loved our conversations pertaining to engine design and Im truely blessed to know the both the both of them..
