What’s everybody like for bulk .22lr that’s quality and consistent?
Mostly Blazer
Also have run a decent amount of M22 without issue
Federal Automatch
CCI SV is my go-to, but not sure if that counts?
SV is very good subsonic but quite a few 22s run better with high velocity ammo, especially when they get a little dirty. Just a little more margin for energy to run the action in a semi-auto.
As any .22 shooter will tell you, you need to buy some of everything and see what your gun likes best. Sometimes a particular gun will like one ammo over another regardless of price. You said bulk, but as you can see some interpret that differently as you can buy just about any of it in bulk. Generally speaking, the CCI products tend to be higher quality and most consistent, but also more expensive. On the other end, the Remington products, especially the Thunderbolts tend to be problematic. But, YMMV... Your gun could love them. And then there's everything else in between. Thanks all for the replies, looking like blazer and CCI are fairly popular, solid choices
Yeah, CCI is my preference, but bulk means cheap to me. Also have had good luck with Aguila. It works it not a 100 yard bench rest ammo,
Eley or SK Lapua
Ha, that ain’t bulk for normal people. You must be one high fallutin fella.
you know better than that. The bulk Eley is the white and silver bulk box ( I can’t remember without looking). The SK Lapua is the standard velocity in a red 500rd can. Both were fairly reasonable the last time I bought it, which was a few years ago.
Is this it? I don’t think I’ve shot any Eley, but would like to try some. That one was under “recreation” on their site.you know better than that. Saw Action and Action plus. My question is who in the world writes the descriptions?I have both Eley Action (green and white) and Eley Contact. Both shoot great. The Action is insanely accurate in my daughters Cricket Precision.
We all like different ammo (obviously)!
per the OP for bulk ammo
Federal, CCI , Remington will be the most common especially in the big box stores. Any match ammo suggested is not related.
BTW we love match ammo but isn’t considered bulk. Keep it real(cheap) y’all. Start a match 22 ammo thread to compare otherwise
I prefer the Federal bulk and Automatch. It just seems more consistent and cleaner than Rem and Win bulk. Several mentions of the blazer, I will try some of that ASAP.
Aguila 36gr is cheap and runs well in all my 22s.
CCI Std if I'm doing something with the can.
I try to get the bulk pack stuff with copper jackets / wash / whatever. Even 'golden bullet' stuff is a lot cleaner in the gun that non-plated lead.
is it best to shoot plated bullets because of how dirty the lead can be? i'm new-ish to 22LR but i'm thinking it's the same theory as shooting lead bullets from a revolver. super dirty
I'll be ordering a bunch of Federal 36gr copper plated HP's this week, worth it?
Doesn't look like anyone said they clean them, but trying to keep them running is good right? You guys clean .22's? LRN, CPRN, whatever it doesn't matter. I just pull a boresnake through to make sure of no obstructions before shooting. Wipe out and very lightly oil the receiver afterwards. Comp shooters take fouling shots for a reason.......
