Wow, so it was that simple.

All these crew guys and NASCAR guys who are in and out of these garages week in and week out, and no one recognized it as just a cut off piece of the pull down?

Wallace is certainly trying hard to BE the story. After the FBI reported investigation findings, Wallace did an interview with Don Lemon and kept repeating "it was a noose" and "I have evidence" and basically trying to uphold his victim status regardless of the FBI's findings.

NASCAR's "noose" may be a case of a purposeful publicity stunt, and that would be a really crappy thing to do given the times. OTOH, for Bubba, it may be a case of "if the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I have a relative that acquired that type of hypersensitivity as soon as she became the mother of mixed race children. Her kids and husband are wonderful, happy people. She's a real pain now because she sees "racism" in dang near everything. It's hard to be around.

Count me in on wanting to see a better pic of NASCAR's "noose". I learned to tie a proper hangman's noose when I was a kid, and OLD COWBOY MOVIES are what cross my mind when recalling one, not the old South.

He was also interviewed on CBS this morning. Sounded like a spoiled brat. I wonder why they haven't asked him about his getting mad and quitting during one of the virtual races? I'm sure he could come up with some reason why it wasn't his fault and it was all due to racism?

I saw this interview after the initial report.

he took way too much time defending himself instead of just saying he was glad it was just a mistake and moving on.

he was obviously under personal attack now, but a good PR person probably would’ve told him just to take the highroad. Unless I PR person believes there’s no such thing as bad publicity
 
These days, when I hear about a "hate crime" I assume its a hoax until proven otherwise.

The laws of Supply and Demand apply here too. The fact that you have people faking racism in this country tells you that the demand for racism far exceeds the availability of racists to go around. :D

I agree. I feel other drivers will go out of their way to be sure there is no contact. Too risky.
 
What gets me, is that in this time of national "strife", that people are actually sad something >isnt< racist.

If I came home and found a burned cross in my yard, called the cops, and they realized it was just a half burned mailbox post that had fallen off a garbage truck I would be thrilled. I wouldnt say "WELL, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A BURNED CROSS!"
 
I'm with the mainstream thinking on this board regarding this, but there are a couple of things I wonder about. Was the rope and knot found intact hanging as it had been for months, just like in all the other stalls, or did someone notice its similarity to a noose, and cut the rope and put it where he'd find it? If they did, then that could be legitimately interpreted as a "hate crime". Images show the rope cut but it's unclear to me whether it was cut before or after it was "discovered".

Nobody getting paid NASCAR money is gonna risk their salary making whatever stupid statement that a real noose would have made to a kid who's rich daddy is white, and who sucks at driving a car (even though he's been groomed for it his whole life).

They cut the noose down probably ran DNA tests on it.

I don’t know when his contract ends but Petty Motorsports is stuck with him Until he chooses to leave. Otherwise they will have fall out from sponsorships and such for letting him go. Never mind he can not drive at a consistently competitive level.
 
I watched the CNN Don Lemon interview. I have no proof but his demeanor and eye movements make me suspicious. There is limited access to his area and lots of cameras that only NASCAR people know about. He seems to be hiding something. I do think it’s a noose but an inside job. Never even heard of this guy until this week. Now he is a national figure? Hmmm.

It’s not all about winning ... it’s about being able to draw sponsors. Think about Paul Menard ... he always had a sponsor (his Daddy’s company) his whole career so he kept a ride, a decent ride for that matter. He did win a race, some how the Brickyard 400 w/ Childress Racing in 2011, but was pretty much a middle of the field driver ... who would sometimes cause wrecks because he was not a great driver. Hell, even last year when he retired he told the Wood Brothers who replace him with and they did to keep Menard’s as a sponsor. Then the greatest sponsor whore ... Danica Patrick ... Indy and NASCAR sponsor money and top tier teams but she didn’t win and yet kept her rides because she kept money flowing in to the team. Bubba Smollett will do the same be it at Petty Motorsports or his ride next year ... and now the Anti-Racism poster boy will likely draw even more sponsor bucks so he’ll have a ride somewhere ... and likely a better one than RPM from SJW pandering company.
