Video from the protest circulating on social media shows the man pointing a semi-automatic rifle and the woman pointing a pistol at the crowd walking past their home in the upscale Central West End neighborhood of the Missouri city.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said it responded to a "call for help" from a 63-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The pair said they went to investigate a loud commotion coming from the street and saw a group of people break an iron gate marked with "No Trespassing" and "Private Street" signs, according to police.

The man and woman said they told the group to leave and the group "began yelling obscenities and threats of harm to both victims," according to police.

"When the victims observed multiple subjects who were armed, they then armed themselves and contacted police," the incident summary said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

The demonstration came after Krewson read the names and addresses of people who wrote letters to her calling to defund the police during a Friday afternoon Facebook live video. Although the names and letters are considered public records, Krewson’s actions received heavy backlash.

What's wrong with this statement? Bolding mine.

"It is shocking and misguided for Mayor Lyda Krewson of St. Louis to broadcast the addresses of those who dare to express a different viewpoint on an issue of public concern," the statement said. "It serves no apparent purpose beyond intimidation."

And yet, they have no problem using intimidation & violence to stifle viewpoints other than their own.

I so wish hypocrisy & cognitive dissonance caused actual physical pain.

I put this on another web site.........
Need training. Muzzle control sucks, could theoretically be charged with brandishing. Both are to far from cover and their asses are wide open to attack from their flanks. Needs more mags. She needs to get her ass on the porch and quit pointing a weapon at the folks in case she tenses up and pulls the trigger. Fine to protect your property but two levels of stupid to do it that way. Bottom line is they bought some brand new toys and haven't gotten the training needed to go with them, They are scared, people do stuff when they are scared.

I would bet that those firearms were purchased the day before based on the way those two were handling them. It is obvious they know nothing! They are quite lucky nothing worse happened.

Quite possibly true, but what would have happened had they not purchased them. They served a purpose without being fired.

I don't disagree they need some training.

One in every crowd.....

My "favorite" part was when she points the gun at her husbands head...:rolleyes:

I would really like to see more detail on whether or not they actually broke through a gate. The internet is sooooo screwed up right now I struggle to believe anything anymore...

Along with how many others that have been flocking to the gun stores and buying anything left in stock?

This is the part I have been waiting for, these thugs have had the law on their side through this whole fiasco but now they choose to threaten people in their homeland. Soon they will see what makes America different from their fantasy dreamland. Don’t mess with the silent majority.

There is another video on twitter that shows people opening the gate and entering but it wasn't broken yet.

Don't know Missouri or St. louis laws, but sure seems like they were trespassing on private property.
From what I've read elsewhere, it sounds like MO has some very strong Castle Doctrine statutes. From what I can tell, this is what applies:
[563.036. 1. A person in possession or control of premises or a person who is licensed or privileged to be thereon, may, subject to the provisions of subsection 2 of this section, use physical force upon another person when and to the extent that he reasonably believes it necessary to prevent or terminate what he reasonably believes to be the commission or attempted commission of the crime of trespass by the other person.

2. A person may use deadly force under circumstances described in subsection 1 of this section only:

(1) When such use of deadly force is authorized under other sections of this chapter; or

(2) When he reasonably believes it necessary to prevent what he reasonably believes to be an attempt by the trespasser to commit arson or burglary upon his dwelling; or

(3) When entry into the premises is made or attempted in a violent and tumultuous manner, surreptitiously, or by stealth, and he reasonably believes that the entry is attempted or made for the purpose of assaulting or offering physical violence to any person or being in the premises and he reasonably believes that force is necessary to prevent the commission of a felony.

Also a few definitions:
(3) "Forcible felony", any felony involving the use or threat of physical force or violence against any individual, including but not limited to murder, robbery, burglary, arson, kidnapping, assault, and any forcible sexual offense;

[(3) ](4) "Premises", includes any building, inhabitable structure and any real property[.];

Note the last item 3 on deadly force, entry on to the premises includes the property. In this case the "protestors" physically destroyed a locked gate to gain entry and was making threats. It sounds to me like a strong case could have been made that it would have been legal to shoot them.

Yes, legal to protect themselves and I am sure the couple hoped (and accomplished) intimidation. I applaud their efforts.

That said, the "handwriting" has been on the wall for a while. A little too late, IMHO. I have first hand knowledge of scared people with no experience just recently looking to firearms for protection. These people are more a danger to themselves than they are to those from whom they wish to protect themselves. Not only that, the first ND on the homeowner's side, in that situation, would create a firestorm of controversy that our side does not need right now.

Yep. Deadly force in defense of property is legal there, and there is no duty to retreat on private property.

Missouri is different in a lot of insurance laws. i.e. no fault insurance. "It is your decision to leave your driveway to go to work." If someone broadsides you, they running a stop sign for example, it's partially your fault for leaving home. Also insurance pays those insured in suicides.

From the comments... Sounds like a threat even though hes says he's doing things differently and he's wrong, because they were clearly trespassing on private property.
I also found it funny that the couple are personal injury lawyers.

I wanna come for them but I do things different in 2020. So,
@kirabanks
WILL be having a Zoom/livestream discussion TODAY to call out their hateful racist behavior, analyze its nefarious origins, and most importantly provide solutions for what we can do differently to NOT be like

He was sweeping his wife and she was walking to the right of his muzzle. The website for their law firm is disabled. Personal injury practice. The larger main gate was also damaged.

Something tells me he's about to get another AR, more ammo and magazines......

If I had that sort of money I'd be buying an MG42 and having some emplacements poured to cover different sides of my property.

At least they stood up, that’s more than the other 99% of people have done.

Thanks Diablos.

This view clearly shows these degenerates were trespassing. Well beyond the rights of a peaceful protest, no telling what they were going to do next. I would have been pissed too. The homeowners may have went about it wrong, but you should be able to protect your property. Just my opinion.

Eventually the idiots in charge are going to realize that the regular people will have their way when elections come around. The "protesters" only represent a tiny minority of the public, no matter how the media wants to portray them, and their antics are starting to wear thin.

I'm hoping that they have woken the silent majority to put the brakes on this stupidity.

Guess we'll find out when some neighborhood protection association gets their bag limit on commie assholes.

This whole "Freedom experiment" is analogous to undisciplined children When a parent refuses to stop their children when they break the rules the kids behavior will continually degrade until such time as an outside force will have no choice but to step in. This usually comes in the form of the police and the courts but by then kids have devolved so far that they can't be saved.

Now they are starting to question why the authorities have allowed things to co so wrong.
