I got these tools when my Grandfather died about 40 years ago.. I have no idea what they were used for,,The smaller one is about 5 inches long and somewhat dainty. The larger one is is about 6 inches long and more robust. The jaws fit fit very close and are sharp and are obviously used to grab something small and roll it out using the angle of the tool face. Any ideas?

Bull nose plyers. For pulling nails, staples, etc. Also handy if you do farrier work shoeing horses.

Edit: they are notorious for disappearing on the job site....
This ^^^ Brings back memories. Dad had a similar bull nose plier that he used it for pulling nails.

Back when I was an Insulator we called them wire nippers. Used them to twist copper wire around pipe insulation and then bite off the ends. I still have a pair that gets used pretty often.

The pair on the right doesnt look like nippers........i dont see a blade or cutting end.

Everyone has missed it. Those are clearly bolt stretchers. Need a longer bolt? Can’t get to hardware store? Then you need a set of those bad boys. Also works as a staple stretcher, nail stretcher, and finger nail clippers. :D

So you’ve had them 40 years and haven’t figured out a use for them yet? I think you need to pay it forward.
Ive actually used them quite a bit for the exact thing they were made for, just didn't know what they were called.. Now more importantly,, what did HE use them for since he wasn't really handy or mechanically inclined.. The only thing I can think of is puling nails from horse shoes. After he got out the Army and Army Airforce in Europe I know he delivered bread in a horse drawn wagon until he saved enough money to buy a bar and that's where he made a LOT of money.. There is a good chance he used those pliars for horse shoe repair?

You sir are correct, the pliars on the right do not have a cutting edge. The faces are machined flat for gripping not cutting. And not very well made either, obviously the older of the two.

Those are the tools used at a bris.

I keep mine in the same drawer of the toolbox with my room stretcher.
