I bought a SilencerCo Hybrid 46 from Fuquay Gun on December 6 and got the call to pick it up July 3, 6.5 months. This was my first suppressor so I excitedly ran down there this afternoon to collect. Since this was my first suppressor, I had a lot of questions about the adapters and threaded barrels. I brought my G19 and Sig M400. Things are pretty crazy down there, the shelves are nearly bare and it was a Sunday, so I guess I should have come at a different time. The line was out the door, I had to wait for my turn.

They had the SilencerCo muzzle brake with 1/2 - 28 threads and they put it on the M400. But they didn't have the part I needed to attach the Hybrid to the M400. They looked it up and told me what I needed. I got home and couldn't find the paper, but I remember he said that the important thing was that it was the "bravo" one. They sold me a threaded barrel for the G19, and I thought I'd be able to screw the Hybrid onto the G19, and when I got home I discovered I couldn't.

I know, I'm a newbie to this world. But could someone point me to the parts I need to use this suppressor?

What parts do you have. For a handgun you need a piston and a spring. The piston adapts the can to the barrel.

I think it comes with the piston booster assembly, but not the piston itself. Do you have a piece that screws into it and has a big spring inside?

If the G19 bareel is threaded 1/2-28, you need a 1/2-28 piston. If they sold you a metric threaded barrel, you probably need a M13.5x1LH piston.

You should have this:

And you need to add this:

I watched the video above, and still had questions. So I went back, and today FG&G had someone more knowledgeable. I bought the piston assembly for the G19, 1/2 - 28, which is the same as several of my other pistols like the M17. But they were out of the AC824 ASR Bravo mount that I'd use to quick disconnect the M400. I also learned that SilencerCo doesn't make a QD muzzle brake for my Sig MPX. I had a choice of using a direct thread mount ($110) or a fixed barrel spacer ($50). That was a disappointment, now I have a QD mount that only fits one rifle (at least until I buy QD brakes for my other rifles). FG&G was out of all three of these parts and the suppliers are showing out of stock. So I guess I'll be waiting even longer before I have a suppressor on my MPX or M400, but at least I can put it on my G19.

I guess the idea of one suppressor that fits most of my guns and has a QD mount looks good on paper, but in reality, you wind up having to swap out adapters (potentially on a hot suppressor) all the time anyway. I think maybe I understand why many of you have so many suppressors.

I wanted to add that I appreciate all the answers I got here. I guess getting a hybrid that mounts to anything complicates the equation.

Yeah, the jack-of-all-trades silencer is much better on paper. :D

You could dedicate that one to rifles and buy a pistol can at some point.

Thats the evolution I went through.
My Optimus no longer goes on a pistol at all and just bounces between rifles. It does a great job in that context while I have a 9mm can dedicated to my Scorpion and another that swaps between pistols.

I learned quite a bit about suppressors and mounts and pistons.... when I thought I was going to mount my Odessa 9 on my MP5 clone.

Long story short, it didn't, but my Rev9 did. What a task!

Yeah silencerco doesn't like to give stuff out for their products to you know actually use them.

Hybrid is a decent can though, but what you trade for versatility you make up for it in ease of use

My Optimus will be dedicated to 3 lug, now using the Nomad for rifles.

Bought the Hybrid and now waiting. Wanted to verify it came with the bravo piston mount or not? Sco website doesn't say. Wanted to get it ordered if it didnt.

Question for all the suppressor owners here. Is the first shot out of the can louder than the succeeding shots?
Depends on host, ammo, silencer, etc...

FRP is the term, First Round Pop. It’s due to the high level of oxygen inside the can. Lots of ways to reduce/eliminate it...starting with the design of the baffles.

So there are cans that do a (much) better job of eliminating FRP than others?

Yes. Monocores are worse than cones. Most people think about FRP with rimfire fans. But there’s the same issue with pistol and rifle...just not many monocore non-rimfire cans. But my Ospreys have it worse than my Octanes.

A little squirt of wire pulling gel in the blast chamber will greatly reduce it.

You can hear (and see) it here:

The first suppressed shot after 5 rounds unsuppressed...

Mine came with a 5/8 direct thread adapter and the piston mounting assembly and spring. No pistons and only the 46cal endcap
