Sorry. Rant.

I've had good luck with UPS, until yesterday, when out of the blue, instead of leaving my stuff on the front (covered) porch as they have for decades, they left a package on my car, in the back yard, where it got rained on. Not a lot, but damp.
They had to go right past the front porch to get to the back and put the package on the car, but ok, I figure it's an aberration.

Today I get the text that my package is here, so I go to the front door as I have for many years, and look out and hey...nothing!
So it's on the car AGAIN!!!!!!!!! Right past the front porch and into the back yard, to set it on the car!

I went into the UPS jungle of a web site, and made sure I had "front porch" specified. I do.

Wonder where they'll leave it if I happen to be out and about in the car when they show up? On the ground where the car usually is?

Rant over/

An UPS driver once told me UPS stood for U PEOPLE SUCK !!:D:D Having to deal with them daily, At times I believe it too.

At least UPS delivers stuff.

I'm still waiting on 5 packages that are stuck in the USPS system somewhere at a distribution center in Charlotte because the new head is an idiot.
Dang! Hope they show up.....

My wife just sent me a facebook post of a mutual friend. She had something shipping USPS from Elkin, NC to their house in Winston. Went from Elkin to Greensboro to Charlotte to Shreveport LA to Dallas TX and sits in Coppell TX still showing delivery today. I sold something on ebay recently and shipped USPS. Ended up taking 15 days to get to Los Angeles shipping Priority 2 day. Guy flipped out and ebay gave him a refund even though I shipped the day after receiving the order.

Voting by mail is going to be awesome!

I had that happen with a package a few weeks ago, took 3 weeks for it to get here, went all sorts of wrong places.

Have a local shipment from a company about 8 miles from my house (that wouldn't let me just go pick it up) Package has been in-route since Saturday, shows that it's supposed to arrive today, but then also seems to have stopped updating 'on route' from Raleigh to.... somewhere. The mail has come and gone for today without it being delivered.... so yea. I expect it's going to show up in a week.

Make big sign with crayons saying ā€œ packages go on porch pleaseā€ draw picture of porch with an arrow pointing at porch.
I'm making a huge sign and putting it on the car. When I leave I will lean the sign on the ramp post near the car's parking spot, saying take your butt to the front porch....but in nicer terms. (I hope.)

UPS driver left a box on the steps inside my garage to the laundry room kitchen door, I almost fell off the steps when I stepped on it.
I called UPS and they told me the driver should never enter my garage and they would take this up with him. Must be a rookie.

6757A8F0-F28C-4CF7-8D08-7CD81226BC3C.png This is my latest mess from UPS and Midway USA. An order I made on the 28th is somewhere in Butner in UPS/USPS limbo. I used the Midway USA chat feature to see if they could shed some light on why nothing has changed since the first. They said to be patient, the estimated time of arrival isnā€™t until the 18th. What the hell reason would there be for a package to be parked in Butner for two weeks?

Usps is way worse.. like the post above I had an order go ups -> usps..but in my case, it sat there in butner for 8 days before then going to greensboro, then to me. Package was just some shorts that i could used on my vacation, and ordered 2 weeks prior to our departure.

For us, FedEx is the worst.

however, USPS may be following their footsteps. Last week I ordered a 6/mow chuck for the new lathe. It shipped in two packages, at the same time from the same warehouse.

Monday morning one of the two packages is ay the end of my walkway to the house. The other, ā€œin transitā€. Well, today it transited from the Raleigh package center up to Wake Forrest...
The exact opposite direction that I Am from Raleigh.

stopped by my local post office but no joy.

this is a precision item that is supposed to maintain tolerances to the two ten thousandths of an inch. After bounding around in the USPS trucks From Here to there Iā€™m not sure what condition it will arrive in.

sigh....

Everything that is lost goes to Butner -didn't you know?

Yesterday 60lb big cumbersome box, up the steps on the porch, granted, bottom blown completely out, foam packing pieces everywhere, and this side up arrow pointed straight down, but everything important there and intact.

Today, 2oz envelope in the tire track leaned against the garage door, ready to be run over. They started doing this two years ago, had a couple good months thought they were done. They did go thru the gate and half way around the house to the back porch once, that was weird. FedEx has literally dropped stuff in the drive, but usually gets it to the porch.

Neither seem to make any attempt at getting things out of the weather. USPS seems to try to increase exposure to weather, they have put packages in the standing water under the mailbox, and rubber band packages and letters to the mailbox door rain or shine, least I'm on a deadend, have seen the same on rural highways.

Put a note on the car....

"Put it on the porch you dimwitted putz!"

Same here...i ordered an optic that shipped, came from left coast, to nc, back to somewhere close to bfe, then to Raleigh, then.... limbo. It's been 2 months and no movement in scan.

And then there's this little tidbit...

APWU Executive Board Endorses Joe Biden for President
June 9, 2020

The American Postal Workers Unionā€™s National Executive Board has voted to endorse Joe Biden for President of the United States. In their decision, the Board recognized his record of advancing the cause of unions, his support for the public Postal Service, postal workers, and his opposition to postal privatization.

You really think they're going to read your note?
my recent ups driver pulled right in front of 2 signs that said "DO NOT DRIVE OR PARK ON GRASS" and then pulled his truck completely off the road and on to my grass.
i saw him lift my package out of the truck (4 5qt jugs of oil) and i saw some oil stains on the box. I met him at the door and said "hold on, i might need to refuse that"
"you can't do that"
"if it's leaking, it's not coming in my house and you're not staining up my porch, you'll take it back"
"i can't do that. if you open it to check then i have to say it was delivered."
"mark it however you want, if it's leaking you're taking it right back as damaged - i'm sure you can do that"
"well yeah, but not until after you check it and i mark it delivered"
"..."

Lotta sorry folks out there. Lotta decent ones too. I've had generally good experience/luck with all the big carriers. Yeah, I get crap service on occasion, but for every mess up there are a couple of hundred packages that come through fine... I reserve the right to rant and bitch though when I do get a delivery messed up...

I herd somewhere UPS is stealing shit left right and center. Iā€™ve had several packages go ā€œmissingā€ in the past 7-10 days.

I worked at a ups when i was 16. The guys used to kick fragile boxes all the way down the conveyor belt to the designated truck. I was told if i ever had a fragile package to NOT ship through ups. That advice has served me well all these years later. If ups is your only go to however, God help ya.

Only took two bad delivery's for you to rant about it. Just saying.:oops::p
Sometimes I just love to rant....and they left it to get rained on. Stop being a weenie.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I placed an order at Cajun Gun Works on Aug. 6. Since then it has gone to Coppell TX and just this morning was changed to in-transit to destination...lol.

FedEx and USPS teamed up to get me. Bought a new scope from Natchez. Long wait till they shipped the 'in stock" scope. Then it got shipped something called FedEx SmartPost. (DONT EVER USE THIS OPTION) Made it from Tenn to Charlotte in a day, then to Concord in a day, then to Kernersville in a day, where its not moved for 5 days. Shipping status changed to "no scheduled delivery date available" hahaha
Got me!

I have hate stories from all the main carriers but USPS is hands down the worst. The most recent was in July and I ordered 27 day old chicks to be shipped in. They are shipped next day, itā€™s common practice, never been an issue.

USPS took 4 days to deliver. Those poor birds baked without food or water for 4 days and when they finally came half of them looked like road kill, a few had just died and the rest were struggling.
What do you get from USPS? Nothing.

Think the USDA would be interested to know that the usps has taken on contracts for livestock that they're not upholding?
I know the govt looks VERY poorly on researchers who don't meet all the requirements for animals...

I've heard the more you complain o line things will.happen to your computer or maybe even make the antique rollerball on your mouse go wacky.

Maybe get modern with a laser tracking apparatus @Millie

Agreed.

Rarely is UPS a carrier of mine, but when they are I have an issue about 50% of the time. Right now I have a delayed delivery (was supped to be here today). Mind you this package only originated 3 hrs away in VA, and now its stuck in Greensboro. I called them and asked if I could just picked the damn thing up myself. Of course NOT. The lady could not give me any suitable explanation for how a package that arrived in Greensboro at 1:30 am could somehow not make the arduous 1 hour journey to my house by 9pm.....Unfortunately I had no choice in the shipping company--must just be merchants primary vendor. I specifically went with this merchant because they told me I would have it today. its a $3,000 computer I need ASAP for a project coming up where I need a lot more power. I figured I would get an extra day in to transition my life into the new machine before next week but nope...ill be sure to let merchant know how much UPS blows.

With Fedex. Ill order a 4$ item on amazon getting shipped from friggen Arizona and it will get here in the [usually 2 day] timeframe they estimate.

Ok, so after my rant about 2 packages left in the open on my CAR, I made sure preference said " front porch," where I've had deliveries for ages.

Today my package was left......on the ramp railing near the car....still out in the open.
Whatever......20200818_135956.jpg

If it makes you feel any better; yesterday the USPS left a small box in the middle of the sidewalk in front of our house. Luckily the neighbor called us and let us know.
Guess he was pissed he couldn't cram it into the mailbox like he usually does.

This is the box my bicycle wheels came in from UPS. My driver is a longtime friend and put in a possible damage claim. Luckily they were fine. I blame the wheel company for their poor packaging more than UPS though.IMG_20200810_173835853.jpg
