No, that's not a click bait title, I really was involved in a high speed chase today in Thomasville.
Worry not, Im fine, the little Fiesta wouldnt make for a good getaway car

Left work, hit 85 northbound, exited on Randolph/109.
Im coming to the bottom of the ramp and slowing down to almost nothing, waiting to turn right. Check my rearview and see a silver sedan hauling butt towards me. Real fast. He screeches the tires before getting to me, sharp right and now he's offroading in his Altima or something. Then two wheels on grass, two on asphalt as he tags the minivan in front of me turning right.

At that point I hear a siren/horn by a cop. Instinctively I think to pull over...to the right. Well, he had decided that'd be his line too, the route he was going to take.
Tagged my rear 1/4 panel on the passengers side, no airbag deployed or anything like that.

They caught the guy - multiple warrants and fought the cops near a license check ('drug our guy a short distance' was one quote by the officer, so I guess when he was starting to flee?).
Happened up on Lake Road where the two hotels are by the Eagle Mart.

Ive got a killer headache right now, but Im a o k

Glad you are okay. That stuff is freaking scary.

I have witnessed two of those. Both during rush hours with heavy traffic. Both times I saw what was coming up behind me and instinctively pulled completely off the interstate (into the grass). The first one made the tremendously stupid error of zipping in front of a 18-wheeler. He was clipped by the truck and landed on his side in the center median. The second time (once I was able to re-enter the lane) I saw the perps car wrapped around a tree on the bank of the next exit.

Both incidents have made me despise driving on the interstates in heavy traffic.

tweaked the rear 1/4 and busted taillight. And, of course, bumper.
It should be ok, I guess. But if anything happens Im getting a little van. Like a NV200 or Transit Connect.

Im sure I'll be sore tomorrow

Guys my head is still killing me, btu no blurry vision or anyhting of that sort. Had several lengthy conversations afterwards.
I feel good minus headache
But IM sure my body will be sore from tensing up. I saw it at the last second, I knew it was coming.

I believe it's totaled! lol
honestly, they dont carry a lot of value, and I dont know how bad (cost) it is for straightening out a 1/4 panel. Im sure it's not totaled though

No joking.....you may have a slight concussion. Might wanna go get checked out to prevent something major.

I didnt hit my head though, and the hit wasnt that bad. Not even an airbag

Glad you are okay but I think you should have at least went tot he ER and got checked out. Never know what internal damage you may have. Headache is a sign of head trauma

@HMP
I was living/working in Italy. One morning I was driving to work and saw the remnants of an obviously horrific accident on the horizon. As I got closer, I recognized the car of a colleague. He had hit a guy on a tractor (a remote country road where it was not uncommon for people to run at 2 or 3 times the speed limit).

He’d killed the tractor driver and destroyed his car. When the ambulance took him to the hospital, I followed so there would be a familiar face to keep him company. After an examination, the doctor explained that it is impossible to understand what happens to the body in a traffic accident. There are just too many forces at work.

Get checked out!

P.S. He was speaking a brutal dialect of Eye-talian so maybe he wasn’t taking about accident trauma. He could’a been talking about the cannoli he had for breakfast.

I'm sorry you got dragged into all that mess, and glad you're ok.
Get your head/neck checked out. Just because you didn't hit anything with your noggin, doesn't mean your brain didn't impact your skull, and your neck may have torqued in some weird way.

As if the cop doesn't have enough to deal with, you got to go driving in front of him.

Let this be a lesson to everyone reading: when you hear a siren, first look around and see if they have enough room to get by without moving yourself. Don't just instinctively run yourself into the ditch.

I'm glad you are ok. Definitely get yourself checked out by a real proper doctor.

The law is pull to the RIGHT!
@HMP followed the law and was hit by a cop....sounds to me like any half decent attorney could get @HMP a good little settlement

You can be right, or you can be dead right.

I wasn't around when they wrote that law, but I'll bet the intent wasn't for people to pull over in front of a patrol car when he was chasing somebody.

I guess you’re not going to work the Salisbury Gun Show Saturday.
oh I wasnt planning on working it but maybe a drive down to walk around and buy something small

Tomorrow go to the ER and start babbling about nothing. Then get checked out reporting the wreck. Practice a tick tonight. Smack yourself in the face while getting examined. And damnit hold that neck. I’m pretty sure you have PTSD as well. If none of that works get a follow up but come naked with a MAGA hat on.

You definitely need to get a copy of the dash cam. Something to show the grandkids one day. glad you’re ok.

I'd have been carted off to the ER and when I left with all of the neck and back pain that I'm sure that would have kicked in, I would have a collar around my neck that looked like a kids swimming pool.
I'm curious who is going to fix your car? Will they blame it on the guy running or the cop that tagged your car?

Dang, sorry to hear you got hit but glad it wasn’t any worse!

No clue how it works here but in NJ if a cop hits you, they have zero liability for property damage. Happened to my uncle and he couldn’t believe it. His insurance went up for it!
