My son and his girlfriend came across this nice Lowe Line canoe a few days ago. It was a family that his girlfriend knew that was moving away.

She asked them what they were going to do with it and they said “It’s yours, take it”. So they grabbed my trailer and brought it home.

It’s a 17 foot aluminum canoe. They have since polished it with aluminum polish and a buffer and also painted over the original factory paint in the interior.

Pretty sweet find fir something that’s free.

That’s much nicer than the inflatable kayak my son just found (finally) on EBay.

Finding life jackets has been another matter altogether, although I think he finally found some.

My son and his girlfriend went to Academy Sporting Goods and found that the life jackets were too expensive.

They found some affordable ones on Amazon and got them on order. They did buy two new oars at Academy.

Weather permitting they’re taking it out on Oak Hollow Lake this coming weekend if their life jackets come in on time.

I told my son, “If you get lost and someone asks you to, don’t squeal like a pig. :D

Nice trailer.

Weird and funny related story. Last Sunday, my wife and I were sitting at a local restaurant having brunch when something on the television caught my attention. Somehow we got to talking about the actor Ronnie Cox and the movies he's been in over the course of several decades. I couldn't recall if my wife and I had ever watched Deliverance together. Since she was only 15 when we started dating, I knew she hadn't seen it herself. She replied that she has never seen the movie. I was only 9 years old when it hit the theaters back in '72 but somewhere along the line I had seen the movie myself.

This past Tuesday night, it's 9:00 pm and we're sitting on the couch and I'm surfing the movie channels on Directv, and I come upon one of the ShowTime channels and low and behold, Deliverance is just starting on that channel. So we watch a good movie.

I know with these phones and other devices you can be talking about something and ads start popping up but I thought it was really weird when an old pre-scheduled movie we were discussing in a restaurant popped up on a satellite movie channel.

The Grumman canoe in the movie looks exactly like my son's newly acquired old Lowe Line canoe save for the emblem on the side.

So, you date under age girls.

:D:D

Actually I did for some time. She was 15 and I was 17 when we went on our first date on March 13th, 1981. But I turned 18 in April and she didn't turn 18 until July 1983. Seven and a half years after that first date we were married. It will be 32 years next month on the 24th. I feel like the luckiest man in the world for her to have me.

Good for you! May your good fortune follow you always. ;)

I love canoeing. Put me up front & I'll motor us about all day. Put me in the back & make me steer, however & I hope you can swim (& that our stuff is water proof & floats).
