Yeah, the Dixie is much better, but I'm not far from the fairgrounds. For the entry fee, I consider it to be cheap entertainment.
I might have to go too Mr Rudder. I need some gun show therapy. If we both go, we could share some greasy slop together again at the café?
We will be there at the Backwoods Bang Shop booth. Drop by and see us.
Typically I save the weekly "gun show" post until Thursday.
I would love a couple of those:
Smith and Wesson M&P 9 Shield 8 round Extended mags (new in original packaging) $15 each
And I can meet you at the Raleigh show tomorrow with cash. Thank you sir!
I would haveAnyone willing to grab mags from @knifeman32 for me? I can't make it to the show this weekend.
I'll offer a mixed 6-pack of decent beer to the carrier.
Thanks.
Saw two guns just like the one I bought yesterday. I paid $400 at the LGS, at the show they were $500 and $600, so that makes me happy.
Slight rant here...after spending $10 to get in (meaning I'm already $10 more than whatever the prices are there), I walked around. All I saw was mostly cheap Chicom knock-offs (optics) and everything else was retail or close to it. Most items I could buy at Cabela's for less. I went looking for ammo and a .458 Socom upper. No one had the upper, not even close. Mostly overpriced brand names. The ammo was retail except for the guys making their own.
I priced most the guns I already had, like my Tavor x95. Cheapest I saw was over $1600. Bought mine at CDN for $1390.
Used to be gun shows were where you could go for great prices and good selection. Not anymore.
Can't speak for everyone else. But we sell a lot of guns and our prices are pretty good. Granted we do not stock tavor's simply because they do not sell particularly well at the shows. But I'll be happy to price anything you want me to in the future.
I just don't think all gun show dealers should be painted in the same color.
Where were y'all at. I wasn't looking for shop names. I was looking at the stuff on tables. If I didn't see Chinese stuff I keep walking. Can't speak for everyone else. What shop were you? Yes, absolutely not painting everyone with one broad stroke. There were some very good vendors there. The Defender Ammo guys are one of my favorites and picked up a couple of boxes from them. But in general, I think everyone has their prices jacked up so they have room to haggle. I'm not a haggler. I look at the price you're asking to start with.
What shop were you and where are you located? What do you sell? I'm come back and see you tomorrow.

Just speaking generally here but what gun did you buy for $400 that was $600 at the show?
I wasn't going to say but I got to shoot it today and it's fun enough I can take the abusive comments from the forum folk.... I got a 9mm Keltec sub2k gen2 that uses the glock mags. It was $399 new at FG&G on Thursday. Saw two there at the show (which is amazing for the 9mm I think, usually they're the .40 versions that no one seems to snap up) at the afore mentioned $500 and $600 price points.
What I really wanted was to find one of those kydex people to have them make me a sheath for a knife, but the only dude there doing it didn't do knives.
I walked around for two hours and covered the whole show. I picked up a box of large rifle magnum primers (main reason I went) and some 22LR (impulse) for decent prices. I did not see a couple of powders I was interested in. Blue Collar Reloading was not there, but Cover Six was. Other than that, I was just looking around. I did see good prices on several guns, but I did see the Sub 2Ks that were over priced. OTOH I saw PMR 30s for $399 which was tempting. How was the show Mr Rudder?
I own backwoods bang shop. We were in the front row on one of the middle rows. We run 8-10 tables typically. We work 48 shows a year on average. We are usually in the same place at this show.
First gun show since I moved to NC and I was pretty disappointed because I actually get better prices on most of the stuff I buy like powder etc at Fuquay gun. It's sad also to see that the guys at the show just can't compete with online prices. Id much prefer to spend my money local but when I can get it 15 or even 20 percent cheaper I gotta go online. Got some mags from backwoods and he was super cool with an awesome price. Would love to do business with him again.

I understand that small vendors have trouble competing with the online giants. I mostly go to be entertained and to pick up small stuff where a high price doesn't really matter (i.e., gun rugs, brushes/jags/rods, etc.).
