I’m wanting to set up a .22 rifle to mainly shoot for fun but could also compete with it. Any advice or recommendations? Not wanting a $$$$ set up but something fun. Ruger Precession? 10-22? CZ? Optics?

Don’t know a lot about the .22 comps but long distance accuracy is what I was thinking. What kind of competition?
Some of the competitions have classes that limit the cost of the rifle. For example NRL22 Base class.Don’t know a lot about the .22 comps but long distance accuracy is what I was
You forgot to post the link. Here is a link to a club that holds .22 lr precision matches. Not sure if all clubs have the same match rules as these. But, it will give you a rough idea about some of the equipment.
Sorry sometimes I’m mentally challenged lol. First link is to the club’s Precision site with the different classes. Second is to the rules they use for the equipment etc.You forgot to post the link.
I haven’t shot in it yet. Planning on shooting a few matches next year though.Just came from the awards and pizza for that series. Was a fun year. Definitely try it if you are close.
No DPRC is more of a silhouette match with targets at 50, 100 and 150 yards. That looks like the NRL22 COF for December. Is that run at DPRC?
Meanwhile, here's a fun video to watch:
75 miles one way 😠.There is a new .22 match starting Jan 15th at CGGR in Asheboro
I drive 130 miles each way . Several times a month. The matches there are worth it75 miles one way 😠.
don't forget to have some means to warm up the ammo, too ... I have sadly found rimfire does not like coldHopefully the weather will cooperate. Thermals and a hand warmer may be needed.
Thanks to all who shared. Looking for a place to learn and test my shooting. cz457. no experience in thiz but thinking a trip to Haw River is in my future. anyone suggest someone to talk to? i luve in wake forest.Sorry sometimes I’m mentally challenged lol. Time gets away from me sometimes. The Covid era has me all screwed up.@Average Joe Been a few years since I shot that match.
@Rolesvillerocker I'd be happy to meet you out at DPRC. We won't be able to shoot the actual match targets but there is plenty of steel on the rimfire range. Send me a PM if you're interested.
Jim P used to open the reg in the wee hours and I was always one of the first to reg. I'll watch and see if I can get in one again soon.Turn out is still pretty good but a bunch shoot two divisions so you can sign up for two if you wanted without much issue. Just don't put off registering when it opens.
Jeff sends out an email before hand so youcan plan on registering when it opens if you wanted to but usually the later in the day spots are open longer. I usually like to shoot around 11-1130am area.Jim P used to open the reg in the wee hours and I was always one of the first to reg. I'll watch and see if I can get in one again soon.
Thanks Eric, appreciate ya watching! Thanks Josh, already enjoying your channel. Appreciate your adventures with all sorts of rimfire. Very entertaining and always more to learn. Can't wait for the weather to warm up and get back to the range. Merry Christmas!
