Meet up with a former colleague last weekend.
Dude is a into cycling. In very good shape for his 60+ years.
Wears a fit watch.
One day after a ride, his watch alerted him to critically law heart rate of 30bpm.
His resting heart rate was typically low 50's.
He got an appointment with his doctor that afternoon. She did an EKG. When she can back after reviewing the results, he said the look on her face was not good. A "how are you still alive" look. She asked him to have someone come to drive him to the ER across the street because she couldn't let him go on his own.
Turns out the bottom part of his heart was not firing. Only the top muscles.
Had he not been in such good condition, he would have been dead well before this day.
He had a pacemaker installed. He still rides, and goes to dancing lessons with his wife.
He didn't realize The tiredness was due to his heart malfunction.
