Just wondering if anyone has access to shoot further than 500 yards (700 or more would be phenomenal) that might be interested in some company... just itching to let this 308 stretch its legs
might just have to do thatThere is VOD tactical in Old Fort. It’s a drive from Greensboro but there is steel out to 700. It is a members only range but members can bring guests for a $20 dollar all day range fee. Let me know if you ever make it up this way and I’d be happy to meet ya out there.
can visitors with a member shoot on the 1000 yd range?Weekends only for the public, members all day all week. Frontline Defense, it's worth the trip! I'm a member there.
To use 1,000yd you have to be a member. Folks drive from Charlotte and Richmond to shoot there.

My understanding is no, they cannot.can visitors with a member shoot on the 1000 yd range?
No, you must be a member and checked out by staff to use the 1,000.can visitors with a member shoot on the 1000 yd range?
Seems reasonable. What does "checked out" mean? Demonstrate hits? Equipment check? No, you must be a member and checked out by staff to use the 1,000.
Paul the owner wants to make sure you can hit at 600yds, basic skill.Seems reasonable. What does "checked out" mean? Demonstrate hits? Equipment check?
I prefer it any day to a formal range.
I agree, you can get a lot of data collected on a “non formal” range. I avoid them like the plague.I prefer it any day to a formal range.
Had orientation this morning, hope to qualify for the 1000 on the 25th. Much appreciate the info bud!!Central Carolina Gun Club in Burlington has a range out to 1000 yds. You have to qualify in order to use it.
To shoot at 1k you need an RSO to watch over you.Had orientation this morning, hope to qualify for the 1000 on the 25th. Much appreciate the info bud!!
Can we get 5000 yards there? If so I’m interested, though heat isn’t my big thing. You can shoot in my backyard at 500, 1000, hell or as far as you want. Your rifles’ capabilities are your only limitation…..might be a bit of a drive for you though.

Looks good, just going to need somewhere better to shoot from, maybe turn that rock 90 degrees. Let’s send some 400gn cutting edge lasers out there at 2.5 miles.
Would be no problem to set up a 2.5 mile shot across this dry lake bed.Looks good, just going to need somewhere better to shoot from, maybe turn that rock 90 degrees. Let’s send some 400gn cutting edge lasers out there at 2.5 miles.
Nice Gear!!I’m thinking with the other base I have it will take one prism and a Charlie tarac to get us there. Let me get this new barrel spun up when it gets here and we may have to give it a go

That was my third 338 flavor, its the Allen mag, now we are spinning up a 375AM barrel.Nice Gear!!
I dislike a 308, to put it mildly, but have done load development for several 308s with the juggernaut and have shot them out to 1100 with good results.I was able to qualify today at CCGC. I was shooting 308 175gr Federal Premium SMK, 16" Faxon big gunner barrel. These are my first shots at 600 and 800(very pleased with both). My fps at 800 was down to 1180fps so I wasn't able to try 1000, since the electronic target system(unfortunately no steel on the range) will only register shots that are supersonic. One of the guys out there told about the Berger 185 juggernaut, which should be fast enough to register. Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions.

386 yardsHow far is the rifle range at the new Iredell FOP range?
Have a point of contact for this Sir?There's a shooting club that uses the Ranges at Stone Bay on Camp Lejeune to shoot out to a Grand a couple times a month. The base allows them to use the barracks at the range, as opposed to a local motel or hotel.
They shoot Service Rifle, F Class, and others, just depends on the weekend.
This should getcha what ya need....Have a point of contact for this Sir?
Thank you very much.
Have to keep an eye out for that, thats not a terrible drive from gboroBang Steel in VA has open range days every now and again, that’s where I confirmed I’m good out to 1200 yards with my 6.5 Grendel.
