I can't figure why more haven't said anything more

Lurking is a silent skill...

Actually, I'm seriously hoping to be there, but my work schedule has been so unpredictable lately that I hesitate to make any commitments. So... which is worse: say you'll be there and not show up or not say it and show up? :)

Definitely not saying it and showing up would be worse...

Stragglers unidentified by a forum name will be rejected unless the property owner vouches for them.

Yeah, I'm down with the non-liability form, etc., and would/will certainly notify y'all as soon as I know.

I make it a point never to surprise a gathering of firearms afficionados.

First off @Windini
You gonna try to carpool with me?

I'll bring steel and my 4 wheeler to tend targets. I will kick in cash as well.

That is....unless I have become persona non grata.

You ain't non-grata with me!

Car-pooling might work; I got a grill I could bring if still needed, and maybe some other goodies to throw in. I wanna shoot, but don't mind pulling a grill / kp shift.

Bed of my truck will be pretty full. We could fit a small grill.

What kind of steel are you guys bringing?

My question is along the same lines.
What's the Target set ups? Bring your own paper hangers, steel stands and such?
Is shooting clays out of the question? (difficult to clean up the pieces)

Yes to the target stands & steel hangers, definitely will be needed. I don't see any reason why we couldn't do clays.

Voice of experience? :p

I am in need of some range therapy.

Just my opinion but clays in a pasture with horses should be a no go. They would cut the hell out of the horses frogs.

Imho

We can ask the property owner and let him decide. Clays crumble when you step on them, they aren't as likely to hurt a horse as say a rock/gravel, but I'm willing to leave that to him to decide.

Allow me to re-phrase:

I was thinking of all the plastic shot wadding that will likely be strewn all over this man's pasture.

Or in his pond?

I'll see if I can get some laser time at work and cut some 1/4" ar500 stuff for 50 or 100yd rimfire. Not sure if there's any thicker plate laying around.

I understand your concern, my point is that if the property owner isn't concerned then we'll be OK, and if he is we'll absolutely respect that. Should we bar folks from shooting slugs through a slug barrel for the same reason? How about saboted rounds through a black powder gun?

I guess I need to contact the landowner and find out his opinion ahead of time.

I can contact and find if shotguns and possibly clays ate alright, horses are different than cattle, shotcups and sabots I wouldn't think would be a problem. Clays may I will check

I think this is most reasonable.

I also think, for all Eddie's efforts, we should take up a collection to get some punctuation keys for his crapatalk.

How many of yous are bringing your wives and or kids ?
Definitely not bringing the wife. Hadn't considered the kid, but he's 10. Didn't figure it was really open to him.

ok just got word back that clays are fine but he'd like for them to be shot into pond. I think that had already been mentioned. So it is official clays are ok in the pond now we'll have to figure out how to do them into the pond and not be in line of fire with rifles shooting toward the pond as we don't want anyone getting shrapnel from shots on steel although that might be a new shooting sport dodging shrapnel and shooting clays the do all sport. Where you not only shoot at clays but you could become same as clays and be hit tooooo. lol
