Rob Ski is paid to advertise them. He's been given guns and money in exchange for positive reviews for years. This is the case with virtually every guntuber post-2018 and everything they say should be taken with a massive boulder of salt. I used to like him a lot more and he was one of the few people I felt I could trust but after having interacted privately with several people now currently under the employ of the Leviathan Group, I don't trust any of them.
VSKA's generally tend to run fine for a couple thousand rounds before they experience a significant breakage. They're plenty accurate and reliable but many of the non-wear parts om them have been reduced to wear parts due to the use of low quality/soft metal. Generally it's the locking lugs on the bolt deforming/breaking, cracked bolt carriers, broken rails, or a blown trunnion. In some cases I've seen walking gas blocks, and even barrels shifting forward in the trunnion and causing catastrophic failures due to excess headspace.
In the few years that I publicly offered my services as a gunsmith I was asked to work on no less than a dozen VSKA's that were suffering from at lesst one of these issues. I turned them all down. VSKA's suck to the point I consider them a liability.
I don't mean this as a personal attack and I mean no disrespect. If you're looking for an underfolder, there are no better options than the WASR-10 UF. They run for about a grand when you find them and according to Battlefield Vegas's testimony, generally have lifespans of 40-60,000 rounds of sustaoned full auto use. Generally they only end up retiring them because the barrels are shot out. Would genuinely recommend picking one up as opposed to converting a VSKA. Alternatively, a Kalashnikov USA AK103 with a sidefolder is a fantastic option and I love mine dearly. I much prefer the AK-100 series factory folder stock to a UF.
