Some have expressed concern about the stress. You guys are great to point this kind of stuff out.
I do get to de-stress. Did some car work, for example.
I got the replacement climate control head for Ivy's Ford Edge, so now she has heat in her car again. The A/C wouldn't turn off with her old one, which meant she'd barely get any heat. About a $50 used part.
Miri's Lexus RX300 dashboard was pretty much lit up like a Christmas tree. All I got before I looked at it was check engine light was on and she could smell gas.
Riiiiiight...what about everything else, kiddo? 🤨
Check engine light on and flashing (a misfire indication)
Brake light on
Burned out light indicator on
Washer fluid low light on
TRAC OFF light on
*sigh*
Filled the washer fluid reservoir, fixed that light.
Brake fluid was at the "MIN" level. She had a problem a couple years ago with the brake fluid level float switch (built into the reservoir cap, making it about a $150 part). I managed to fix the existing float switch, but later found an OEM replacement for about $50 and ordered it "just in case". Well, I topped off her fluid and went ahead and replaced the cap. Fixed that light. (Need to pull her wheels soon and check brake pad wear.)
Upper brake light was out...replaced that, which fixed that indicator light.
My scan tool said three cylinders were misfiring.
Bought a set of iridium spark plugs and replaced them first, before I jumped right into replacing ignition coils at $80 a pop.
All the plugs looked nominal except the number 4 cylinder, which was gunked up. Probably a bad coil causing that. Cleared the fault codes, test drove it...flashing check engine light and TRAC OFF light came back in.
Codes said misfire on cylinder 4. Replaced that coil, cleared codes again...NO MORE LIGHTS! YAY!
Gas smell was probably unburned gas in the exhaust.
Felt good when I was done.
Tomorrow I'll hit up a junkyard for some miscellaneous small parts I noticed on Mori's Lexus. Missing a 5mm nut for the engine cover, as well as the Lexus emblem on top of it that's been missing forever. Couple fasteners missing on the plastic radiator cover (irritates me, given the fact that I paid someone else to replace the radiator because I was out of town and I KNOW those fasteners were there before. (There are suspiciously clean circles around those two spots.)
Might as well get four lug nuts, since I'll be there. Each wheel has one of those stupid security lug nuts on it and guess what Miri somehow managed to lose out of her car? Yep... the matching security lug nut socket. I hate those things. They're annoying, especially because they don't stop anybody from stealing wheels anyway. They only make about 5 or so different keyed lug nuts patterns, and people looking to steel wheels off cars will have a full set.
Oh, yeah!
Beth is doing fine. Fantastic appetite and about as mobile as can be expected, given the lower leg issues.
Slow and steady improvement in wound appearances. No signs of infection, but still a lot of clear seepage.
Doesn't seem to be any more signs of blood in her stool.
Blood sugar under control with insulin.
Still doing her feet/lower leg exercises to help with circulation.
And will be going into rehab for a while to help her recover.
