Cigar of the day

I've been holding onto this sucker for a while now. Picked it up in 2012 and burned it last week.

Burned an Ether M.E. that's been in the humi for quite some time now.
Smooth and delish went well with a cup of coffee mid morning. I'm glad I have a few more!
I gotta figure the pic thing.

Rocky Patel - Decade Cameroon
They've never been well reviewed, but I've always been fond of them.

I love the Decade - It is by far my favorite by RP.

Never tried the Cameroon though.

Screw the reviewers! Most of what they write is superfluous bullshit. Smoke what you like!

This is how I rate a cigar...I always try at least two, just in case a lousy one got by QC, or the roll is too tight on one.

1. Blech, never again!

2. I'll keep a few of these around for the mooches that light a stogie, take two drags and turn green and use it as an accessory.

3. OK, might be worthy of humi filler possible yard gar and to be used as #2 when humi has enough good smokes in it.

4. I can live with this...yard gar.

5. Would consider as a choice for a box at the right price as an every day smoke.

6. The best! Where's my needle nose pliers? I never want to stop smoking it! Buy a box ASAP!

That's a pretty solid system. I never gave my personal reviews numbers, but I do keep notes on favorites. I geek out with an excel spreadsheet.

Found out yesterday that my wife and I are having a baby boy. Our first kid, so today I'm smoking some ribs and having an AVO LE 2012 to celebrate. I'd say 80% of the sticks in my humidor are over 5yrs old, so picking which one to smoke is always hard, I feel like I'm saving them all for special occasions.

Congratulations! A fine smoke to celebrate with!

Side note trivia: Avo Uvezian, a great composer passed a few months ago. IIRC he wrote the tune for "Strangers In The Night". I believe it was originally titled "Broken Bicycle".

Well I have taken pics but never post since I always forget. I know I have a lot more then this but as you can see I smoke every time I am on a sandbar (I am the guy that bring cigars for the fellas). Evry one of these I enjoyed (I like just about every style). Cirqus was the only one I have not enjoyed in the last several months. Really digging Acid these days but that is not all I smoke.

Puffing on a Punch - Rare Corojo in a salomon configuration. It has notes of banana peel, really unexpected.

Paired with a Mtn Dew voltage [emoji3]

Casa de Montecristo by JR Cigar... in Mooresville NC.

Say I live near here and say I have about $100 to burn (pun). New to the hobby... give me a list (a starter pack) so I can more quickly zero in on what I like and don't like.

I would like a nice variety of sizes and flavors if possible... condense the successes and failures of this thread for me? Thanks!

Tastes are very subjective.

However, I doubt you could go wrong with Olvia Series V, a Rocky Patel Decade, or anything from Drew Estates (of which I'm a huge fan). Size for the most part is correlated with time to chill so that's up to you. Plan on about 30-60 minutes regardless.

@GeorgeBush I'm an occasional smoker and just had to jump in and try a few to see what I liked. One of those sampler packs from an online vendor is a good way to start. Keep notes on what you like and dislike and soon enough you will have some favorites. I'd say half of your $100 should go toward a humidor with a few bucks left over for something to put in it. My favorites so far are R&J 1875 Cedro, Fuente 858, The Griffin's Robusto

and any cheap digital hygrometer off amazon. I don't trust a cheap dial hygrometer

this is a smokin' deal right now: (HA!)

When you create an account they send you a code for free shipping and 10% off, then it's $27 TYD for 10 Nubs

Thompsons is a decent online retailer. I actually get most of my stuff from them. Check out their auction site for some really nice deals.

I'll smoke almost anything by Oliva, Arturo Fuente and Rocky Patel.

Even the budget, Curly Head, by Fuente are surprisingly nice.

Finest Cuban Cigars? I've ordered from them a few times. No BS, no gimmicks. Box of Ramon Allones right to my front door.

I'll have to try that site. I've seen it but hadn't heard any feedback from it. Those came from my Father In Law who just returned from a month vacation in Ireland and Scotland.

Beer is good, especially if you like coffee but the cigar ( Victor Sinclair?? Stupid cheap) was horrible. Like burnt rubber. Lol

I cut my teeth on Victor Sinclair. Moved on and never looked back. I'm sorry you even attempted to smoke that stuff. Burnt rubber might have been a better experience.

@indie_rocker ya I picked up a cheap sampler over a year ago off Cbid. This was one of them. Just bad. There are some good cheap cigars IMO but not this one! Lol there is a cheap one called fields of gold. A box of 100 was $40 on cbid. Not a bad mild yard gar.
