What say ye? For an upgraded diff cover.

Can go wrong with any cover that's finned for heat dissipation and has added oil capacity. I personally like the Mag Hytec's look and plan to eventually add one to my Ram.

That's what I was leaning towards

@Mike Overlay

Do I still need the Motorcraft friction modifier if I go with Amsoil gear oil?

yup on the friction modifier. Ford already is using a high quality synthetic diff fluid. Rear fluid is rated for 100,000 miles, front is 150,000 unless contaminated with water or mud in thru the vents

But pretty sure you would be wasting your money unless you just absolutely have to have that look.
I have seen diff failures before, but none could have been from over heating. All the ones I have repaired or replaced were due to bearings failing due to low fluid from ignored leaks. Or the Dodges from crappy ring and pinion gears.

If it was such a big issue, why doesnt every over the road truck have that set up on their rear ends? Pretty sure their diffs go thru a lot more abuse than the pickup truck/luxury sedans of today do :D

Mag Hytek is quality stuff. I have installed a few covers and switched over to BG synthetic or AmsOil for customers when I was at Chapel Hill Tire. The people that I replaced covers for were heavy towers that were moving boats from down south back up north and some custom car hauler guys. Easy to check fluid condition, level and its a good looking addition to a rig.

Yeah.. besides the cool look....I really want an easy way to service the gear oil. God forbid Ford actually puts drain and fill plugs in!! No that would cost an extra nickel.....<rant off>lol
