What did you do in the reloading room today?

loaded up a few (150) light .357 loads with my cast 158477s previously shown in this thread. Said might as well do some .38s and realized that I need both sets of dies instead of changing all my dies settings on the turret.
(shops for dies now)

Two types of chronograph owners, those that have shot theirs and those that will. :)

Yeah, that is what they say. I’m lucky so far, I have recorded close to 1000 shot strings across my Caldwell, and before that I used my F1 Chrony for dozens of groups (still have it as a backup). I thought I had shot it one day when I pulled a shot with my pistol, but luckily missed it. I always use a rest now, even with pistol, to reduce the chance of a pulled shot hitting it.

Wanted to see just how many rounds the old loadmaster could pump out. In 26 mins I was able to do 360 .40s. that's not to shabby in my humble opinion. Why stop at 360 you ask? I ran out of bullets:(. But fear not. I put in my order with the fine peeps at Blue Bullets for their new bullet subscription plan. 1 case a month for 12 months. A end of deal savings of over $350.:). That's all, carry on.

I need to have a look at that plan. My postman appears to have put on some weight recently, at least he would get a work out once per month. The benefit to me is that I will feel compelled to shoot them all before the next shipment arrives.

I guess that is what they mean by win-win.

Still setting up .4o cal tool head for the 650. As the dies are still a week away, according to delivery information, there is not much to do. So what does an OCD reloader do when there is not much to do? Simple, you break out the Dremel, buffing attachment, and rouge, and polish the inside funnel and baffle of the powder reservoir because you were surprised that they did not already have a mirror finish on them.

And since I have more than one, and the other two looked like the new one, well...

the tools were already out, no sense leaving a job partially complete. I would have lost sleep over it.

Doubt it will make any difference at all, but it kept me in the loading room and in the wife's good graces, both of which are pluses. That and I have attained a new level of obsessive compulsive and that makes me happy.

Cleaned up and organized my bench, hung a new light, hung some slot wall behind the bench, cleaned and lubed the press and just generally messed around for a couple hours this morning. No ammunition was loaded though.

Sadly, have not done anything reloading related this week, as I have been out with the flu.

Finally got off my wallet and replaced my auto disc with an auto drum on my 9mm setup for my loadmaster. The disc was just to inconsistent with the very fine powder of Cleanshot. Was getting .3gr variation with it. Got the drum setup, ran it through a break in and it is spot on. Love these auto drums.

Loaded 500rnds of 9mm. Probably empty a couple more primer tubes after work.

Need min 2k by mid April, I know me, if I don't do it early I'll be up all night the day before class.

I'll take that autodisc off your hands if you don't want it. LMK

I pulled the handle a few times last night, loaded up about 200rds of 154gr (lyman 358477) LSWCs with a midweight charge of titegroup. These shoot much better for me out of the 2" gun I carry than the near-max load I tried. That load didn't lead up my SP101 but it played hell on my 637-2, so I lowered the charge .2 grains. Titegroup is great in the 38spl after using HP38/W231 for years. It is just as described: frugal, clean burning, accurate and not position sensitive (twss...)
I need a few 8lbers of it stashed up before the next Presidential anointing.

Ran out of clean 9mm brass, and nearly bullets. Wasn't planning on that.

Will have to clean some cases this weekend. May be some clean hiding in the garage...

Ordered 1k of Gallant 147s in case I don't get to casting.

Procrastination may get me yet.

but 9mm and 40 major and 45acp, Its awesome stuff

Getting ready to start loading 40 major. Have used Titegroup for 9mm with no complaints and great results. All of my reading , and Shooters World advertising, bills it as equivalent to Titegroup. What do you find is better about it. I ask because I will need either another 8 lber of Titegroup, or I will be adding Clean shot to the cupboard.

Price

yup. Price is a big one, but also the bore temp is a huge difference. Means alot when titegroup smokes/cooks fiber rods.
Its cleaner, does leave small goldish "filler" residue buts blows right off. Recoil pulse is minimal, soft push compared to a hard snap.

Clean shot in 9mm IIRC took a tenth of a grain more to make the same velocity as TG. Seemed like a touch less smoke with coated bullets. However during development running batches of ten, I saw the lowest SDs I have ever around 4 and ES was single digits to a worst of 13. I have not checked temp sensitivity but those numbers may let you load right to the floor of pf if that is your thing.

Also it's a small spherical powder but must be less dense, case fill is better.

Haven't tried it in 40, haven't chronoed 45.

Try a pound.

Try a pound.

Well with the reasons stated by you, Wolffy and Mike it sounds like I will have to. Price is great and much appreciated, but I am a sucker for ES. It is my stated goal to miss as consistently as I possibly can (No joke, I'm not kidding).

As Clint Eastwood famously said, "A man has got to know his limitations"

Getting over the flu this week. Finally got out in the shop today, and resized, trimmed, chamfered about 500 .223 cases.

Loaded another 25 test rounds for my open G17. She didn't like the S&B primers at all.... So I found some federal gold match small Pistol primers at my local. Heading to the range now.

@hlpressley how does that powder compare to HS6? I've been using it for the extra gas for my comp but man it's dirty with coated bullets....

Never used HS6 so I couldn’t tell you. Sorry

Tried out the Lee power quick trim on some .223 cases. It seems to do well for trimming on press. Trims, chamfers, and deburrs within +- .003.

Figured I would give this a shot since the dillon trimmer is a little out of my price range.

I purchased 10K small pistol primers and 8lbs of CFE pistol. Just need to order a case of 9mm 125gr blue bullets.

I haven't loaded pistol in a while, and I'm not looking forward it. I will have to find a new supplier since the green coated Lucky 13s aren't around anymore.
