Ah, the bad old days of post ban AR junk. Going through a few boxes of stuff to see what can be thrown out and I ran across a circa 1999 AR magazine from CA. This is what came with the bushmaster I bought right before the CA ban kicked in, so it's a post '94 but pre '99 rifle.
They took a regular 30 rnd mag, cut the middle out of it and riveted it back together with a large slug of aluminum in the base to hold the two halves together. You can't take it apart, you can't replaced the spring or follower and the true kicker is that it doesn't even actually feed. Rounds just slam right into the front of the mag, the follower won't rise up correctly to let the rounds actually tip up and out.
But anyway, be thankful that stuff is in the past (being in CA that is. ). Now those poor bastards would kill for a detachable mag that held 10 rounds.... oh wait, maybe not kill for it. Maybe trade away their Starbucks?
