Jerek started course 3 on Monday, July 23. His counts recovered well over the 2 weeks he had off. His white count and hemoglobin were the highest they had been since this all began. His platelets were lower than they expected them to be, but not low enough to negatively affect anything. He received 3 chemo drugs that day. Last Thursday he also had a lumbar puncture with chemo. This course consists of chemo every 10 days and 2 lumbar punctures. These chemo drugs are not supposed to drop his counts as quickly as the previous courses. He went in this Monday for labs. His white count is slowly and steadily dropping, as expected. His hemoglobin and platelets were actually higher than his previous visit. Overall, he hasn’t felt too bad. He mostly just stays tired. He has developed some mouth sores from one of these chemo drugs and is working to heal those. They aren’t bad enough to affect his ability to eat, but they are bothersome. He goes in tomorrow for the next dose of chemo. He will get the same 3 drugs he got on the 23rd. Thank you for the continued prayers and support. We know with God’s guidance he can and will beat this.

Thank you for the update! Praying!

I feel for anyone going through chemo! It's awful stuff, and scary. Hope he hasn't gotten the headaches from the puncture? That was the worst pain I've had, ever! They had to give me dilaudid for it and I'm impressed with my head for not exploding! My prayers are with you all.

Thank you for the update.

Thanks for the update. Been thinking of ya'll,
and praying for you.

Even though some of the reports are positive, it still breaks my heart that this young man and his family is going through this.

I really hope that very soon this will be a distant memory.

Ditto and A-men.

Thank you Caitlin, the family remains in our pryaers,

Still praying for y’all and many others battling that horrendous disease....

I pray for the day that a cure for cancer becomes more important than pharmaceutical companies’ profits.

I concur with this. Humanity should trump excessive profits. Best wishes from Catawba County. Keep pounding.
