Nike Signs Kaepernick to Ad Deal

Im still waiting for someone to point out something this Colin dude "sacrificed"...

Apparently he sacrificed his career when he first took that knee.

I have a few Nike golf socks that need to be replaced anyway. I might have a few Nike golf balls.

Thanks goodness my socks are Foot Joys. My feeble protest was to throw away two used Nike golf balls. No great sacrifice, because they were found on the course at some point. There were markings for identification that I don't use.

Don't ever recall buying a Nike product, I own one shirt and that was given to me. No change here.

The Original Knee-Jerk has been on Nike contract since 2011.
Many do not know he was adopted by a white family.
Brilliant move gains them massive publicity and NIKE was always like that.

Since this has yet to make it to the basement or tortuga I’ll Just say this,

That overpaid dry baby didn’t sacrifice jack squat.

This man did. I knew him, worked along side him, and was a good man.

He did sacrifice everything.

This is one reason I don’t like being thanked for my service. Thank and remember the ones that didn’t come home alive, or in one piece

I'm not stupid enough to burn all my Nike apparel but I won't be buying anything else from them. Their stuff is to expensive and cheaply made the last few years anyway.

Guess I gotta throw a piece of tape over the nike logo on my work shirts. Those things are too expensive to trash and I have too many of them. Wont be buying any new ones at next weeks uniform event!

What a bunch of idiots.

I wonder what kind of outrage there would be if all cops who worked NFL games showed up with socks depicting the players as gorillas?

Check with @DesignMine he may be able to come up with a logo that he can apply over the swoosh logo ;)

Nike shoes and tannerite:
Go together like a horse and carriage.
...
You can't have one without the other.

Apologies to FRANK

Or they don’t show up at all ... no traffic control or security ... most LEOs working major sporting events (not just the pros) are not “on duty” but do it as a side job. If the players don’t think LEOs are fair then let the do without them for a while and see.

Can't wait to see the Nike brand on every liberal.......possibly a pair of Justin boots for the conservatives.....Justin, Tony Lama, are you listening?

Had to go in Academy today to get my son a pair of cleats for football...not sure if it’s related, but they were almost sold out of every brand but...wait for it...Nike. There were orange Nike boxes everywhere in all styles and sizes. Only a few boxes of UnderArmor (don’t think they are much better as a company), Addidas and Rallings (didn’t know they made shoes)...

Nike, I love your gear, but you exhaust my spirit on this one. Your new ad with Colin Kapernick, I get the message, but that sacrificing everything thing…. It just doesn’t play out here. Sacrificing what exactly? A career? I’ve done that both times I chose to stay home and be with my kids instead of continuing my business climb… and it wasn’t sacrificing everything. It was sacrificing one career and some money and it was because of what I believe in and more importantly, who I believe in.

At best, that is all Colin sacrificed… some money and it’s debatable if he really lost his career over it. Maybe he sacrificed the respect of some people while he gained the respect of others. Or maybe he used one career to springboard himself into a different career when the first was waning. I don’t know. What I do know is, he gained popularity and magazine covers he likely wouldn’t have gotten without getting on his knees or as you say, “believing in something.” I’m also thinking the irony is that while I am not privy to the numbers, it’s likely he gained a lucrative Nike contract. So yeah… that whole “sacrificing everything” is insulting to those who really have sacrificed everything.

You want to talk about someone in the NFL sacrificing everything? Pat Tillman. NFL STARTING, not benched, player who left to join the Army and died for it. THAT is sacrificing everything for something you believe in.

How about other warriors? Warriors who will not be on magazine covers, who will not get lucrative contracts and millions of followers from their actions and who have truly sacrificed everything. They did it because they believed in something. Take it from me, when I say they sacrificed everything, they also sacrificed the lives of their loved ones who will never be the same. THAT is sacrificing everything for something they believe in.

Did you get us talking? Yeah, you did. But, your brand recognition was strong enough. Did you teach the next generation of consumers about true grit? Not that I can see.

Taking a stand, or rather a knee, against the flag which has covered the caskets of so many who actually did sacrifice everything for something they believe in, that we all believe in? Well, the irony of your ad..it almost leaves me speechless. Were you trying to be insulting?

Maybe you are banking on the fact we won’t take the time to see your lack of judgement in using words that just don’t fit. Maybe you are also banking on us not seeing Nike as kneeling before the flag. Or maybe you want us to see you exactly that way. I don’t know. All I know is, I was actually in the market for some new kicks and at least for now, I’ve never been more grateful for Under Armour.

I wonder if they will even televise the national anthem tonight? I will be tuned in to see if they do. After that I will be changing the channel.

I read for the games that ESPN will broadcast, they will not televise the National Anthem - also they said that has been their MO before the kneeling fiasco (only broadcasted the Anthem 3 times, once after 9/11/2001 attacks). I do not know (nor do I care) which network will be broadcasting the game tonight.

Almost slave labor only to overpay already wealthy athletes...... Just doesnt make sense......and to overpay a QB that wasnt that good to begin with.

Hmmm...

When I was a youngin, I remember television stations broadcasting the National Anthem before they signed off at night.

Different times.

I never stayed late for the sign off :) I am up usually by 4 AM. FoxNews on weekends start their live programming with the National Anthem....5:58 AM

I might see some NFL tomorrow, curious if it'll be aired then too
I have no interest in looking it up, but if Im already watching and it comes on I'll watch

Also, he sacrificed almost nothing.
I am not a huge nfl fan, mostly watch the Panthers, but I dont recall hearing his name much before his incident.
It's not like he was a household name, a mega star in the league.
