Will do. I got 4 and 1/2 5 gallon buckets (3/4 full) sifted. Started casting yesterday. I'll cast up till January 4th or so and stop. Pics then.

I've been delayed by weather, and will finish up over MLK holiday. Right now I'm sitting on 380 pounds of cast bullets. All are 9mm, and I'm using 133gr moulds. That puts me in the ballpark of 20,000 rounds. Need about 10,000 more for the year.

Really neat to see old bullets dug out of berms and recast! Always thought it would be a good idea to recycle lead that way.

It also gets me to thinking.. I wonder how many tons of lead are in the berms at DPRC?
I live on the street that the old DPRC berm is on. It's still full of lead

I would but my neighbor who actually owns a piece of the berm might get ticked
"You see neighbor, all I want to do is remove all that dangerous lead from your land for you."

This cold weather has slowed me down this year...but as of now I'm north of 400lbs cast. The snow has convinced me to go a few more days, and then I'll talley the total.

That's a lot of casting.

I lack the dedication. I told myself I'd cast like 10k or something to maybe get thru the years 9mm. I think so far I have enough to get thru March. Maybe that's what I'll do Saturday...

THAT is a casting session!

I want to see you pick one of those tubs up with those jaunty plastic handles! :)

Gearing up myself. Just put about 400lbs into ingots.
I'll sift the berms come next Wednesday, then melt and clean the recovered the lead. That's going to take some time. I should be in full casting mode the week before Christmas.

gah. I gotta sort thru lead after getting help in cleaning up the garage and gaining a project vehicle

Been lurking in the Castboolits BST........always a dangerous game. Got a new Mihec copy of the RCBS 150gr .38 SWC HP that I wanna play with in powdercoat. Discovered 2 new bags of Eastwood powder coat have turned to rock.....so I guess humidity in the garage has been high during the Monsoon summer and fall :(

Good thing about Eastwood powder...they keep making it. lol.

Me to self last year after seeing your post, "YEAH! I'ma cast enough this winter I can put my pot in storage."

Me in April, "Yeah, hi, Blue Bullets? I need some 135s so I can shoot this weekend. Thanks"
I sort of have to do it. The tires get shot all up and start falling over. Once the wife complains about the back yard I have to break out the shovel. I guess I could stop shooting and fix it all.

Berm is sifted and cleaned...produced 40 monster ingots this year. Time to start casting.
Edited to add...just north of 600 lbs

Lotta lead.
You motivated me again.
I really need to make a larger capacity "smelter"
4.5 gallons of wheel weights and range scrap turned into this, half a milk crate of muffins

Well I avoided the Christmas Eve rush. Not hard to do smelting lead and casting boolits. On the agenda this fine afternoon were boolits for my 1858 Smith, my 1861 Springfield and 1842 Macon. Gonna do more tomorrow too!
