Tikka T1X- Whittakers is shipping preorders

After only eleven short months...

Yeah I know, right?

I had previously thought I ordered the dang thing in April but I checked my order history and realized it had been almost a year. I can't wait to get it though and it will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype.

Nice! I have been hearing great things about the accuracy, but it sounds like they are not dropping into most T3 chassis setups like we hoped.
Can’t wait for your report on it!

I heard they only got 15 in, so you may not be in that first batch.

I should have clarified that I was only posting that as a data point, and not an implied "where is mine at?". When I last spoke with Whittakers they indicated that they had hoped to have some by Dec. I have it in my Jan budget to pay off the Tikka.

I had one pre-ordered, but cancelled and have been enjoying my CZ for months. :p

Hope the Tikka is as good as they sound. There still could be one in my future someday. But I hold a grudge.

Its going to be hard to surpass the CZ or the Savage for accuracy at that price. I'm hoping they can, would be nice to have another choice out there. Looking forward hearing about a hands on range report with some targets thrown up..

That is for sure, especially with the Savage. I've seen a buddy shoot wings off flies at 50 yards with his Savage. Amazing accuracy from such an inexpensive rifle!

I hope to get the Tikka on the range before the end of the year. Once I get it in my hands, I can figure out what kind of rings I will need to mount a scope. I am wondering if a DNZ Reaper mount will fit it like on a regular Tikka T3X or if mounting options are completely different from the T3X line. I am also still trying to decide what kind of glass I will put on it. I already have a Nikon P Rimfire 2-7x that I like but I have been looking at other scopes to see what is out there. Any suggestions? I like a fine reticle and will rarely be shooting it more than 100 yards.

I have seen targets on other sites and it sure seems to be a shooter. I think you can say that about any rifle though, right. It is all about consistency across the line. Considering it is more expensive in its base form that the CZ and Savage, it better shoot better than they do. The great thing is that Tikka gets lots of support from the after market community, so I believe this rifle will too.

I have a DNZ 1” unopened in my stash for the 3x line. Not sure where you are but you can try it and get a sweet deal in it if it fits. It’s just collecting dust right now.

From another forum, “it seems that the rail on the T1x is 11mm dovetail vs the 16.5mm of the T3x.” It seems the T1x is standard 11mm dovetail, so you could use standard 11mm rings of you are going to stick with small 22lr scopes like that Nikon.
On the scope, I had one of those. Depends on what you are doing, but a scope like that on the bench is not very good at 50yds or more, especially in the fun target games we play here. Can barely see some of the targets. For hunting, it is fine.

11mm is pretty common so that should make it easy to mount. I wonder if the DIP rail for CZ’s would fit? If so then you could mount with lots of rings and QD’s as well. QD’s for a scope and a red dot would be a sweet set up.

Some other guys suggest that the CZ rail might fit. Somebody in the thread I just posted bought a rail off midway that was perfect and he shows a picture installed.

Yes, I did see your ad and that is very kind of you. I'm in Winston Salem, so we are a little far from each other. Once I find out more info, I may be getting with you because I do like that mount a lot.

I have got a Athlon 4-16 that I am using on another rifle and it is on a QD pic mount and so I could swap it around once I figure out a rail.

I’ll be going through WS at leat once maybe twice this month. Just let me know. Will trade for booze!

Im a real big fan of this scope.

Ive been using it for bench rest comps for years. It has very fine cross hairs for target use and it has zero parallax when using the side focus knob on the left side. Very repeatable in its adjustments meaning you can make a box by going up and down left and right, then reverse. Seen prices as low as $189 which makes things even better. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info on the Mueller. I have never heard of them but I defintely like what I see on their website.

I did pick up the rifle today. I wasn't expecting it until Monday. The trigger was set from the factory at 3 lbs 5 oz. I quickly set that to just a touch over 2 lbs and cleaned the barrel/lubed up the bolt, etc. I need to figure out a scope mounting solution.

I agree with Lager. Nice scope for the money on the bench.

The great thing about those dovetails is they are very popular, so you shouldn’t have any problems finding something, especially if you don’t want to spend a lot. I have had no issues with Burris Signature and BKL in the more affordable range. (Plenty of other options though) Sportsmatch rings are popular in airgunning for a higher end product. When going higher end, I’ve always used pic rails though.

I suppose it's threaded?

Yes, 1/4-28. They wisely went with standard US threading instead of Euro-trash threads.

I have everything I need EXCEPT a damn scope rail. DIP just cannot keep the 25MOA version in stock. I placed the backorder with DIP the day before Whittakers called. I was anticipating that I would not hear from them for another 2-3 weeks.

That’s a really strange thread pitch. :p

(We’ll all assume you meant 1/2-28)

Thanks but I already placed the order with DIP.

Also for those with a T1X the BEST place to get mags is actually through Beretta directly using some of their daily email discount codes.

https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/magazine-t1x-22lr-10-rnd-22lr/s545203781/

I used a 15% off code and had 3 magazines delivered to my door in two days for $75 ;)

I received the rifle last Thursday and had it to the range on Sat. Overall I am very pleased!!

For whatever reason the trigger came set from the factory at MAX (5lbs+). I failed to check this prior to the range trip, thus accuracy testing was a little less than optimal. I have an AREA 419 30MOA rail on pre-order that should arrive next week. So I won't get the rifle into it's final configuration until that arrives. I will post pictures and accuracy report though once completed.

Get yourself a Yo Dave (google it) trigger spring and you'll like it even more! I am curious about the 30 MOA rail. Why did you opt to go with a 30 MOA rail?

30MOA rail because I like to shoot rimfire out to 400yds on occasion.

I went with a different spring than the YoDave off of Ebay, but have not installed it yet. I'm not sure I even need it after properly adjusting the factory trigger. This is going to be a critter gitter not a bench gun so 16oz-24oz is preferred over less than 16oz.

I just ordered a 20 MOA rail from the above. Pricey , but the rifle is worth it.
