Weekend Weather Event Jan 12th - 14th ?

Power outage coming up! Got to get all my battery packs charged up......

Looks like it's just going to be rain for anybody SE of Durham unless the system shifts farther South. Greensboro and Winston are right in the ice zone. Good luck ya'll:

I expect it will be rain in CLT, just great. I was finally trying to get a project completed buit I can't do it when it's wet.

I'd rather have snow...

Yeah the current forecast here is for not much other than rain. Earlier in the week it was looking like a potential mess though.

The latest weather models have been swinging from snow to more sleet/freezing rain in SW VA and WNC. It's been interesting to follow this storm strengthen and now falter a little. Anyway you cut it it's going to be cold and wet Sun into Mon.

Storms seem to follow a pattern here where I-85 is often the line between all snow and wintry mix. I'm just southeast of I85, about 15 mins or so. We were predicted to get a mix and now those predictions are shifting to all rain or maybe a trace of ice. Much better than it was a couple days ago at least.

Oh and they drive just as bad here, if not worse.

Buddy just sent me this

How are things looking west of Durham and Burlington? Im trying to decide whether I’m going to travel from Apex to Kernersville and Stokesdale today. Would get back to Apex before dark. Looks like temps may stay warm enough and precipitation may move out mid-morning. May wait until later in the day to make a decision.

In WS it's just raining a lot right now bud
It's cold, its wet, but that's it.

Just heard from my mom in Stokesdale - they just lost power. She said ice on trees. Still just rain here in Apex

Done raining in WS, sun is coming out.

Just got home from Walmart for groceries.
Things I noticed were out of stock/really low on stock:
bottled water - all great value brand gone, half of the other stuff gone too
frozen pizzas
chips
bacon

We lost power about 6:45 this morning. I’m usually up by then but have had a very long 2 weeks so deicided to sleep in.

Then my CPAP shut off with the power so that was a lie.

You must have an opening in the clouds, no sun near Clemmons.

Been without power in Lewisville since around 6am. Fun stuff

I was required to work this weekend due to the "severe" weather. The forecast didn't look severe to me.

I spent 12 hours watching puddles grow in the parking lot. During that time my crew put 4qts of oil in a truck. The LE crew changed 2 wipers and 4 tires.
I will spend 12 hours watching the puddles shrink tonight.

On the plus side it's OT. Tax money well spent.

It's not doing anything here so that's good. Made sure the Genny would start yesterday and filled 4 cans of fuel. The wife wanted me to go buy a generator for both of the kids, I'm glad I didn't waste the cash.

Well guys, north of Winston it was freezing rain and sleet. We lost power at about 4:30a and it's still off. Driving around a bit, the culprit is fallen trees. Just outside of our development a live power line set some of the grass around it on fire. We're running gas logs and if we don't get power soon, I'm going to break out the generator. We had a roast planned for today and I'll be darned if some ice is gonna ruin a roast with taters and gravy.

Our power flickered this morning.
Work flipped back and fourth three times in ten minutes before deciding my crew babysitting the parking lot was unnecessary, at which point I called my people and turned my phone off.
