not sure where to post this, pls move as appropriate
Yesterday I decide to go to Cabelas before going to the gun show to look at an acog that had marked down last week that I wanted to buy. It was gone, went through the gun room and nothing exciting so I head to the gun show. Done at the gun show and getting a bite to eat when I get a text from @Prosecutor, he’s at Cabelas and knowing that I’ve been looking says that they have a S&W m57 no dash in the case at $599. Of course I drop everything and head back over. Before I go on, my sincere thanks to @Prosecutor for both the heads up and for giving me the opportunity to buy it!
So fondling it and ask them to remove the trigger lock, they refuse. We proceed to have a discussion about not being able to function test a used gun before buying it, pointing out that their policy is that all used gun sales are final. They said, yes, something implemented by Bass Pro and nothing they can do. Called for a manager, also nothing he can do. They were gong to have to ship it to @TARHEELSTATE or me so I asked if they’d remove the lock as part of boxing it up and they said it would be shipped locked with a key. They did offer to take it back to an employee only area and make a video of them function testing it for me.
In the end they said that they would take it back if there was an issue, so I bought it. Might send a letter to corporate explaining how stupid this policy is, but really unlikely to bother making the trip to Fort Mill in the future.
Figured I’d let you know so you don’t get the same surprise.
