What kind of bags do you guys use to carry your AR pistol in your vehicle? I don't want any tactical looking or gun logo stuff. Will they fit in a tennis racket bag? Mine is a 10.5 barrel and a sba3 brace. Thanks

Oh yeah, thrift shop tennis bag for $2.

My 2¢ ... don’t use anything that makes a theft look at it twice. I’ve been known to use an old burlap grass seed bag to move things around when I don’t what people to look twice at it ... the only think better would be a work boot bag if they made such thing :D.

I always chuckle when the tennis bag topic comes up. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen somebody carrying a tennis racquet anywhere. If I saw a bag, I’d assume rifle...unless you were actually in the parking lot of a tennis club. :D

No bag for mine in the vehicle. It’s sitting in its “foam home” under the rear seat. That discussion was here: https://www.carolinafirearmsforum.com/index.php?threads/under-seat-storage.36851/

I think the tennis bag thing is kinda cute...but lets think about this...

Someone breaks into your car looking for stuff they can steal, sell quickly, and have little questions asked. What normally comes to mind to me are things like radios, computer bags, phones, CDs...SPORTS EQUIPMENT AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS....so...yeah...lets pack our firearms in the containers that draw things that are easy to pawn off...like musical instruments and sports equipment....

I think a smash and grab thief is going to grab any type of bag that they find in a car. They will toss it later if nothing good is in it. I am mainly interested in something that will provide a little protection when keeping it under the seat. I'm going to check out BigWaylons foam home thread.

Haha pawn shops wont give you crap for tennis equipment! How many officers have ever filled out a report on a stolen tennis raquet? If theives don't see anything worth going into the car for then they are not going in. A tennis bag? meh I doubt its worth it. I dont leave mine laying on the seat but it does make it less obvious when moving from one vehicle to another or whatnot.

Im trying to find something for my HK
It no longer fits in the stock case and I want something to put it in. Will probably end up having to go custom on it or DIY it the best I can

Actually, I might try to DIY tomorrow! I might try to get some foam locally and just try to cut some stuff up and put it in a toolbox case

You can be as dismissive as you want, but I am sure there have been many police reports of stolen sports equipment, including tennis equipment considering most racquets cost $100-200+. Will a tennis bag visible by itself prevent a thief from breaking in? Perhaps. Does it make it less obvious when moving it around? Perhaps. But it isn't some magical container that will cause thieves to skip it over >if< they decide to break in.

I will freely admit it is far better to use a tennis bag than it is a guitar bag or something similar as musical instruments >are< often stolen and pawned.

I think its better than the Well Fargo bag I was using. I also think if they break in then anything is fair game.

I'd also argue that with the rise of 'no one will suspect a tennis bag!' that it could become a target for thieves.

I, personally, wont be leaving my SBR in my car for any longer than it takes to grab lunch after leaving the range, but, still, to me, I have no interest in a tennis bag.

While it wouldn’t work for AR pistols, a guy at a class in Ohio had a kid’s Buzz Lightyear suitcase he turned into pistol case by stealing his son’s old suitcase and cutting his own foam inserts for 2 pistols and a bunch of mags. So the DIY project might be a fun way to get creative.

Get a large dog food bag and put over whatever you have your gun in.
Pick a cheap brand of dog food also.

I can’t recall who it was here, but he recommended using those bags the folding beach chairs come in. A lot of people own them, and they have zero value, so they not only wouldn’t grab attention they wouldn’t be grabbed even in a “grab whatever you can and run” moment.

I just bought this bag.

Silmarils TSA Friendly Laptop Backpack Extra Large College Business Bag for Men and Women Water Resistan for up 17 Inches Laptop (Black/Blue) (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KGDLZ6Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_2HrTCbEG2X0XK

I was thinking of it for my Keltec Sub 2000 (Sub 2K), folded, but it also works for my 9mm Glock Mag Atheris Rifle Co AR Pistol since it has a Folding Adapter. There are two major compartments and both of these firearms fit in this bag.

I just Velcro mine to the bottom of my back seat.

Great timing. I literally just bought this on amazon. Purpose built, great reviews, won’t raise any eyebrows going to or from my truck, and is a reasonably priced alternative to the 5.11 Covrt bag. I’m not concerned about the type of bag it’s in should someone break into my vehicle.

And plan to put this patch on it with Velcro so I can swap it for a real patch if I want.

I'm thinking most any sports looking bag and leave an old stinky tube sock hanging out, maybe some stained gym shorts draped over it. Ain't no crook in his right mind gonna mess with some other guys nasty draws.

I got this bag last week and it works really well. It has ambidextrous quick release tabs to quickly deploy it while carrying and they have great instructions showing you how to do so.

It is a little on the bulky side IMO but that also means good padding for carrying 2 guns, though I’m only using it for 1.

I put a PSA, Bear creek Arsenal and Delton stickers on my wilson tennis racket bag. I routinely leave it in the bed of my pickup. Been years and no one has touched it.

Hey I resemble that remark!!

On a side note, my 10.5 450BM with the LAW folder will fit into a plane jane Jansport pack.

I have a few TSA Approved laptop backpacks (not for the airport, it was just was I search for since the zipper opens easier) that work well if the AR Pistol can be folded.
