Anyone use one?

I need one primarily for a mirage cover but a high temp rating is a plus just in case 2-3 rounds turns to 20-30 for whatever reason.

I was looking at the Cole Tac HTP; I like the straps versus cords and I like the material of it (and others like it) versus a Manta or Bowers type cover

Anyone, just seeing what everyone was using and what their experiences were

I use an Armageddon Gear cover. I like it, it does the job. It's been long enough that I don't recall specifically why I bought this over the competition though.

It does make a significant difference for mirage, even after just a few shots.

I like that...the cords aren’t as bulky like some others

Try Rifles Only.
The make a few different versions, depending on your needs.
For what you are describing, @11B CIB try their "Skinny" cover.
This is the one I use, it is good for pretty much everything except extended full auto sessions, which requires a thicker, more robust cover.
They are currently having a sale, so get them while the getting is good.

What do you mean by Mirage cover?

As a suppressed firearm is fired, the heat off the suppressor starts making a fuzzy "mirage" around itself. Like when you look down the road on a super hot day and it gets all wavy in the distance. This mirage can impact sight picture.

...and it gets really bad using a scope.

@HMP Think about trying to lay on an asphalt street in the middle of July (ignoring the heat against your skin) and shooting with that heat mirage rising up...then multiply that by some big number. Rifle cans reach over 1000° when shooting a decent volume of fire.

Never noticed it, but maybe I dont shoot as much as yall or shoot enough to get it real hot (usually a few shots here and there)

Thanks for information

Ive seen a few guys at matches with header wrap around their cans. It works for cars and bikes and super hot temps... makes sense that it would work on a can. Super easy to put on.

I have a roll of titanium wrap left in my garage somewhere from the last harley I built. I can mail you some to use.

This is what I have. Use metal ties or metal zip ties and they're almost unnoticeable

On a hot summer day, three quick rounds from a centerfire rifle can render a precision rig useless

@Scsmith42 any problems with it sliding forward off the can?

How much do the rifles only covers weigh? Obviously it would depend on the length you choose, but they don't list anything on the website.

A lot of the beefier covers on the market weigh as much as the cans.

Yeah no way I’d run the Magpul cover

Agreed, on a hot day, I shoot about two or three rounds above 85 degree days and the mirage gets really bad. At distance, combined with environmental mirage, it makes the target down range inconsistent to get a 100% precise and consistent anchor.

My can is pretty heavy so the cover is definitely lighter. I’ll see if I can weigh it tonight and post the info.
