Long story short I have been shopping half heartedly for a LVPOish scope to run on my LWRC mutt rifle. Last week I noticed that Amazon had the discontinued Minox ZX5 1-5 for $259 and I decided to give it a shot. I have read/heard good things about Minox in the past and had been impressed with the lower end ZV3 my cousin has. Just opened the scope up this morning when I got to my office and I have to say I am really impressed with it. The glass is incredibly clear with no distortion/fisheye and the 1x magnification seems to true 1x (hard to tell since the scope isn't mounted). I also like the simple duplex reticle as opposed to the more 'tactical" dough nut/horseshoe/etc type reticles found in many of the LVPO/low power optics. The scope seems to be built like a tank the clicks are very crisp. The scope is not illuminated which might be a turn off for some but is not a huge issue for me. I initially thought the ZX5 line was assembled in the USA with Schott glass and German parts but the marking on the tube state it was assembled in Germany.I am still waiting on mounts and will be updating when I get everything mounted but it seems to be a lot of scope for the money and compares well to scopes costing 2-3 times the cost.
