Just got in my melting pot to use for salt bath annealing and was wondering if anybody has bought a PID control unit. Saw one online but the temp only went up to 650 degrees.

change the thermocouple if you want more temp potential. I am in the process of building one myself. It's been in the process for about a year.

Ikarust, please let me know how it goes and hard it is.

It's fairly easy if you have a electronics background. The PID controller brain I have came with decent instructions and YouTube has some good videos. I have all the parts and finally have a good soldering station just need to find the time.

You just need a relay for the heating element, to hook to the output of the PID and a thermocouple to sense the temp. It is pretty easy to setup. I would use a solid state relay.
