Well....that was crazy

Well, since there are no "rules" posted and I apparently fall into one of the "do not screw with" profiles (because profiling is how they decide who to ask), it's apparently against the rules to check my receipt, so sure, I'll go to Walmart.

Imagine if you bought a shotgun from my wife inside my house while I watched, but before you stepped out of the door, I asked for verification that you actually paid her, and instead, you told me to "piss up a rope", and I smiled and said, "have a good day, sir" as you flipped me off and walked out the door to absolutely no consequence.

So knowing that you might be subject to this random harassment and waste of you freedom, you will still go there? Then do we get to hear the same complaint about them next time?

As upset as you seam to be at them checking your receipt at their house, I would hate to see the reaction you would have to someone flipping you off in your house.

Again if you don't like the way you are treated there, why go back? Shop somewhere else.

Just as with the gun restrictions argument, there is a big difference between someone's house and a business open to the general public. When folks start equating the two, especially coupling that with some sort of demand for respect, you know they're losing the debate.

We as a group generally say we won't spend money in a place with gunbuster signs
But we're not willing to send the extra 69 cents at another business to uphold our , you're infringing on my rights views . If the show me your receipt offends people so much, boycott the store, but I'm guessing I know who'll break first on that one.
And when I see one of the door greeters I put it in the, but for the grace of God, there go I category, smile show them my receipt and move on.
If your going with the not submitting to the yoke of the oppresser argument then when you get to the register pay only the amount for the goods , but not the tax, if you want to wage war ,wage it on the real oppressers not a seveventy year old greeter who's job sucks enough as it is.

But to me they are the same. My house/ business, my rules. Your house/ business, your rules. A public building- court house, library, public park- well that's another ball of wax.

This is why in a great world if a baker does not want to make a cake for a gay couple, not a problem. If a black restaurant owner does not want to server a guy wearing a Confederate flag, they can tell him to piss off.

But in our butt hurt world we have now, it a RIGHT to have your smallest whim granted or scream foul.

I have a hard time believing that anyone at Wally World can say that itā€™s their store, in the manner you own your house.

So the mom's and pop's, we quit shopping at to save a few cents at mega stores, are now a memory. Now corporate has us by the balls due to our own doing. It's a freak show, we're getting fatter and dumber by the day and bitch about trivial crap. Oh to be blessed with first world problems...

My wife and I (unfortunately) had to go to Walmart last night and they have the people that check EVERYTHING and EVERYONE and they'll stop you and chase you. Home boy looked in our cart, opened our new cooler, saw 3 bags of ice and pulled all 3 bags out of the cooler and I heard him count out loud, One, Two, Three. Then took everything out of the couple of bags we had. Meanwhile other employees are blocking other people with stuff from leaving so this ONE GUY can check everything. Charlie Foxtrot. South Winston Walmart is the home of People of Walmart...

This thread paid off for me yesterday.

We were in the Fuquay Walmart, all the self-checkout registers were dismantled, the area was being worked on. Do you think they staffed-up the regular registers? Nope.

There must have been over 40 people in line with carts full of groceries. Three registers were open.

People were abandoning carts in the aisles. With meat and milk in the cart. Just walked out.

I thought about this thread, and the tips some of you mentioned. I took my wife back to the ammo counter with our stuff, (about 8 items, no cart) and we checked out. I think we were the only ones who thought of that counter, since there was also a line at electronics and garden.

On our way out the door, I spotted some old guy deep in the line with three things in his hand. I gave him the tip on the ammo counter so he wouldnā€™t have to wait 30 minutes.

Anyway... thanks for the tip, Iā€™m not sure it would have dawned on me.
We don't go unless we absolutely positively 100% have no other option but to go. And yesterday was one of those times considering it was Sunday.

I am amazed that you found someone in Sporting Goods. That is usually a long and aggravating process (finding someone). I'd be willing to bet that store management made sure every available register was manned because of the checkout issue. Worked for you!

Went by our local Wal-Mart yesterday..... and there was no receipt checker like normal. It kinda bummed me out that I didn't get to give my usual "No" response :(

If I ever get stopped again, I think I will ask to see proof that they are an actual Wal-Mart employee first. I mean, how do I know they actually work for WM? They could actually be some undercover foreign agent scanning my receipt to track my purchases!

And the jewelry counter.

I'm a big fan of using the other registers in the store.

Hwy 150 location?

I just got home from my normal Sunday morning trip for groceries, a bit earlier than normal today though.
Anyway, I thought of this thread as I left the store.
Today I was there at just after 7am, so it wasnt too busy.

There was a greeter, she did not greet me. No worries, I still said 'good morning' like I do every Sunday morning (usually its a 60-ish white woman with glasses who is very polite).

Did my shopping, picked up a shotgun toe rest on clearance for 2.28 too, and headed to the registers. Well it's about 8am or so and the entrance I always use didnt have their self checkout register area open, it was 'chained' off with that yellow plastic 'chain.'
No worries, two rows over is a woman with a register open and there's only one guy ahead, he's paying now.

"Good morning" like usual with this attendant, she scans everything, we make small talk, and then Im heading for the exit.

As Im leaving my aisle there is a couple JUST ahead of me - a few feet. I make one small, brief pause to look at a toy car on display (there were several models, just seeing what was there, a 5 second pause) and then I keep walking.
Well the greeter was smiled at the folks in front of me and they kept on going, that was that.
I get there, wearing jeans, a collared shirt, whatever and she's still got the smile lingering so I say "have a great week" as I always do.
Now, I'll say here that I shop listening to music through earbuds. I like it. But I also keep it at a volume where I can hear around me.

And, please keep in mind, I just exited a checkout line 20' from the door, much closer to the door than the folks that were in front of me that she just smiled at.
Im walking my normal brisk pace and quickly I see her waiving a pen in front of my face to get my attention. Now I didnt hear her say anything before this point, but Im pissed, dont waive something in front of my face, it's just rude. I stop and ask what's up, she asks if I have a receipt, I say "of course I do, I was just checked out." and start my walk. Again she's waiving hands and saying, "I need to see it"
I said "no."

Remember how I listen to music but can hear around me. I never heard her say anything before the pen waiving, but now I hear her say, "Unbelievable"
Yeah, she's right, it's unbelievable that I I dont want to deal with her any longer after she waived a pen in my face to stop me and didnt stop the folks in front of me for a split second, who had the same complexion as her.

Just irritated me and I wanted to share, get it off my chest.

Soooo...you will not be back to shop there, right?

I have not seen a greeter coming in or going out at the Mebane Walmart since I read that they were stopping using them some months back.
At the Mebane and Hillsborough locations, I've always seen a greeter on the way in and have never been stopped on the way out. I can't recall anyone ever being stopped on the way out in either location.

I pick up my prescriptions at Walmart so I pick up a few items while there and if it's a small order I will check out in the pharmacy. I have never been stopped on the way out even though I came from around the corner. I was there yesterday about noon.
No greeter going in or out.
I wonder why the different experiences?
Location?

You want someone at the sporting goods counter?

Walk behind the counter. Someone will magically appear:cool:

I took a picture of one just to make fun of it. Talk about a tool that encourages violation of Rule 1.
These things are common among the shotgun guys. I believe the code of ethics within that group is to have the action open when you do this. Can't say for sure though, I don't hang with that group. Code of ethics might be if you blow your foot off you're an idiot.

I bet they support the 2nd but...

But it has the mandatory warning statement on it so it must be OK. Right? Lol

HMP, you bought one of those?

Yes
And on the trap range youre only loading when it is YOUR TURN TO SHOOT and you only load one at a time.

Yes, violates pointing at something you dont want to destroy, and I do want to keep my toes, but, hell, how much of your body is in the firing path of a gun in a IWB holster?
Some ranges have little rubber mats to place your shotgun when not shooting, some do not.

No, I lucked out that someone had already been at that counter buying ammo. The manager definitely didn't make sure registers were manned, as there were only three (out of 13) "human" registers being worked up front.

Before this thread, I had no idea I was supposed to be outraged by receipt-checkers. I'm much more bothered by waiting 40 minutes for a Dr. appointment at 8am (how can they be behind already?) and then having to wait in line to outprocess at a counter using paper, when everything that was discussed is on a computer they had in the exam room with me.

Have to say the Fuquay walmart sucks big time.It is out of my way but I usually drive to the Holly Springs walmart. It is bigger, better stocked, cleaner, and the help is more abundant and friendlier.

Never been asked for my receipt......yet.

In my Walmart, these were on the same clearance rack. Less convienient, but less toe-pointinā€™ going on.

Youā€™re right about the holsterring of pistols, though. People are aiming their CCW at themselves all the time.

And as I said, on the trap range you only load when it's your turn to shoot, only load one round.
It's NEVER loaded while resting on one of these pads

So the mom's and pop's, we quit shopping at to save a few cents at mega stores, are now a memory.
I have an Aunt that I love dearly. We were raised like brother and sister. I found out recently she was driving 11 miles to grocery shop at a discount store. I reminded her that when we were kids, 60 or so years ago, we could run into Berry's Red and White on main street [1/2 mile from her present house] get stuff we Needed and sign for it on the back of a paper bag with our "bill" on it. My grandfather would go into town on Saturdays and Square Up with Mr. Burt. I asked her to try that the next time she drove past where the Red&White used to be.
I'm just too old and one way to drive 22 miles to save 5 damn dollars....Old man story Over.....

and if they do, it's either about guns or extremely polite lol.

My favourite is the mother who spent her whole time waiting in line flirting with the thug/gangbanger in line in front of her who almost crapped herself and snatched up the kid she was ignoring the whole time when I turned to the side to grab a soda from the cooler and she saw my handgun lol

You're worried about the wrong guy lady.

Since 10 years has passed, I hope you're still not buying that Bryer's crap. There is much better ice cream available.
Kind of OT but when I was growing up Breyers was awesome. The vanilla bean ice cream was just milk/cream, eggs and vanilla beans and it was hard as a rock until you let it warm up a little. Now they pump it full of air so it's soft and you pay twice as much for half as much product. This was before all the Ben & Jerry's, etc. crap sprang up and it was glorious. Damn pencil pushing Marketing weenies, coming up with ever more ways to deceive the customer. /rant

The Bryer's Natural Vanilla is just a few ingredients, they're not filling it with the gum crap, and it's hard when cold. It's the only one I buy. The fewer natural ingredients the better, Duke's Mayo fan's get it.
