Let's see what YOUR perfect sidearm parameters are. If you could blink and make it so, what are the specifics of your dream handgun? Here are mine:
1. Caliber...Any centerfire capable of penetrating a 2 inch solid wood board
2. Barrel length..3-5 inches
3. Weight loaded...24 ounces Maximum
4. Capacity....8 up
5. Sights...low fixed
6. Trigger..clean 4 pounds or less
7.Accuracy minimum...2 inches at 25 yards
8. As close as is mechanically possible to 100% reliability

This should get us started. You should never be challenged for Your choice or have to defend it. This is for You.
Obviously mine above Could be Auto or Revolver. With the revolver the weight might be a problem. I'm curious if any of you have even thought of this? Let's see what you would like. Then give us your closest Compromise in production now.

If we're talking a carry gun....

1. 9mm
2. 3-4 inch barrel
3. Weight is not a factor for me. Heavier means less perceived recoil
4. At least 10 rounds
5. Fixed, metal, snag free, tritium
6. SA/DA trigger, decocker
7. Durable and reliable
8. Slim grip is a plus, as well as overall compact size.
9. I'm not a fan of polymer, and want a metal frame.

My PCR is close. I need to upgrade to night sights and would like to get some Cajun internals, but I've been procrastinating.

My G43 as it sits in my pocket, except for the Glock trigger pull fits that bill

I tried, but I can't do it.

It depends on where I am in space/time.

JMB + Saive + Ted Yost = My Perfection I tired to replace it with a Wilson EDC X9 but I still like the way the BHP fits in my hand better bit Bill and his team built nice 1911 like pistol in the EDC X9.

1. 9mm 124 or 147 Gr
2. 4.65" Barrel
3. 39.5 Ozs if I want lighter I can carry an Alloy by Don Williams. For me the weight in the right holster does not bother me.
4. 13 or 15 Round +1
5. Fixed sights with gold line.
6. Trigger is a clean 3lb 10 ozs.
7. In the right hands it can shoot 2" groups at 25 yards
8. It has not failed me yet and I trust Mr Yost knows how to build a gun.

I run mine with the gold bead. Are you running the 18 round mags? They just hit the market. I am interested to see how much that print compared to the 15s.

I dont have one yet, but I shot one about 3 weeks ago with the 18s and 15s. If one is taller, I dont think the 18s print as much.. YMMV... The gun is amazing. It is the finest shooting carry gun I have shot.

For CCW/EDC

1. Caliber...9mm
2. Barrel length..3-5 inches
3. Weight loaded...24 ounces Maximum
4. Capacity....15 and up
5. Sights...low fixed
6. Trigger...5lbs or so...I’m not a trigger snob just like a good reset
7.Accuracy minimum...2 inches at 10 yards standing off hand
8. As close as is mechanically possible to 100% reliability

My CZ P07 fits this bill. I don’t shoot enough different triggers to speak well on the differences, but I prefer it to the Glock squish. I like the DA/SA for second strike capability.

If we are talking “It’s the Wild West and I can carry whatever I want”.

It’s a toss up between my SP-01 with its massive capacity and excellent ergonomics coupled with reliability and a nice DA/SA trigger and the FNX .45. It does nearly everything the SP-01 does, is slightly less ergonomic and maintains a high capacity but with a larger caliber.

Solid choice.

Glock 19 for me. I own a lot of 19s and I have to hold my nose a bit when buying a non-19 handgun (even other Glocks!)

Are we talking real or imagined here? The Noisy Cricket is fun and I'd love to have a mouse gun that packs such a punch. I'd also love to have a Glock 19 with a 1911 trigger. If we're wishing that is...

I guess a light weight double stack 1911 in 9mm that cost under $1k and actually works would be really close to my wish. Who makes such a thing?

I want a DA/SA hammer fired slightly thinner Glock 19 (with the width between the 19 and the 48). 3lbs SA 7lbs DA would be fine. No safety no decocker.

Can you imagine how many of these we could sell. That answers all my defensive handgun needs. Rob Leatham handed me his XD once to shoot and handle. That plastic fantastic had a 2 pound trigger!! Clean and KKKRISPPP! There HAS to be somebody that can do a Glock like that. 4 pounds would be Fine!!

I'm still waiting for someone to come out with a 10mm in an officer size frame but with a double stack, 12+1 or similar.

Take my money, please.
Geezer's brother had a gun that fit that description perfectly here not long ago. Check with him. It shot GOOD!!!!
EAA Witness Compact in 10mm. That thing was bad to the bone. Looked like this one.
