Anyone in here shoot around Myrtle? Heading to Surfside for the week of the 4th and looking for something to do. I found a 6 stage all-classifier USPSA in Tabor City this Saturday, but I’m trying to see what else is out there.
Any idea if they have matches? Couldn’t find anything online.I hear there's a halfway decent range in Conway...
Excellent, thats more what I’m looking for. Are you shooting it?Ant Hill Range has matches on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of each month (and on the 5th Sunday if there is one that month) and isn't a real long drive from Myrtle Beach.
Anthillrange.com for info.

We’re heading down Friday after work and staying until the Sunday after the 4th, so I was thinking about doing the USPSA in Tabor City and now that Ant Hill match. I may skip the Tabor City match now that I know about Ant Hill though. But either way, I’m definitely in for the 3 gun.I must admit I haven’t been in match shooting mode for a few months now, been spending more time on the boat with the family lately. That said I may shoot some of the upcoming matches. Which one (ones) might you be here for?
If I end up shooting one of them I would be happy to meet you there, introduce you around to some great folks. They put on good matches at Ant hill.

Stop right there. All the time!Shits nuts down there
Yep that's what happened with the family place on 15th N in Surfside near the Holiday Inn. In 2 years it went from a quiet beach house to HDs up and down the roads all day and night with modulars on stilts going up on every corner. Dad cashed out and moved to FL only to lose his arse in the great Real Estate bust of 2008........finally broke even and moved to Lenoir.Yeah, once you got south of the old Pavilion it used to be non-tourist-y and fairly quiet when I was growing up, but it seems like the last 15 years or so its started to be more like Myrtle. And the town council has managed to piss a lot of people off in recent years. We usually go to Murrell’s Inlet anyway- the bar scene at the Marshwalk is more my speed than the Myrtle clubs (except for the occasional bachelor party of course). Ehh, maybe someone rich will come along and buy our place for twice what its worth to build a massive stilt house haha!

Hell yeah! Is that “The Gun Store” in Conway? I’ll stop in there while I’m down. Getting back after August is going to be tough because of school, but we usually at least come down for Labor Day. I might be able to convince the wife to go down with me for a long weekend whenever he starts holding matches too, I’ll just conveniently “find out about it” the day we leave home and pack all my gear. The "half-decent" range in Conway is a super-nice Private Range owned by CFF's own Battery Oaks Billy. Billy is a CFF treasure and a knowledgeable friend to all here at CFF... Hit him up for any specifics.
I'm hearing some soft rumblings of a possible CFF/ Battery Oaks "Blind Stages" handgun match at B.O. sometime this fall.
If Billy's Merry Band of Wizards, Demons and Warlocks do their thing and it becomes a reality, It promises to an be an eye opener and definitely will allow shooters to truly gage one's actual shooting skill set and truly be accountable for each shot.
