I skipped out this year. I did the two previous years with the W4UA club. Didn’t really enjoy it. Got stuck on a GOTA station on 10m. Two years ago, I at least got a little traffic. Last year I coached KN4JOX and it was dead air. We came back on Sunday and used the antenna of a guy whose K3 took a full power transmission into its receiver. I created an HF monster. :p Neither I, nor JOX decided to field day this year.

Instead, I went and did some move and shoot with the AR, mowed the lawn at the house, and then yesterday has my own field day: mowing 20 acres of field with the Brush Hog.

I go to Field Day for the food.
The clubs around you must have something better than around here.

In other news, I just had a nice CW rag chew with W5ZR. Morse can be a bit tiring. I was throwing out CQ and getting nothing, so I switched frequencies and decide to try once more.... then I hear KM4WON de W5ZR. He’s a ham down in AL, had his ticket for 60 years.

I've belonged to several clubs in the past, but at this time only The Gaston Radio Club. We had great food - burgers, hot dogs, brats and even smoked livermush for lunch and great pork BBQ for supper by a member that brought a smoker as big as my car. GRC is a fun club with very good nature members.
