Welcome to the VA help forum.

Veterans will also be able to use community urgent care under this program.

There are copays depending on your priority group.

PG 1-5 1st 3 visits free, 30 copay thereafter

PG6, if related to your special eligibility (AO, SWA, etc) same as above

If visit not related to the special eligibility, $30 a visit

PG7-8 $30 A visit

I'll post a fact sheet as soon as its published, this doesnt go into effect until 6 june 2019

How do you know what priority group you are in?

I got out in 2000. I don't have a ratings. I do have full medical coverage at the VA with $45 copays (this may be $30) on my visits to the CBOC and Snore Clinic at the big hospital and a 90 day supply of meds is $15 dollars.

Pretty sure you can get that info on ebenefits. If not, either your medical center or call 877-222-8387

That’s kool

Until your ass gets bumped, and you are stuck in minot North Dakota

Yeah, back in 2000, I was on Con Leave.
I went to take a Space A hop out of Ft Collins.
I short, bald man, in BDU’s went up to the counter with his family.
They told him he was bumped.
He got visibly angry and demanded to know why.
The clerk at the counter pointed to me and said
“See that PFC? He is on Convalescent Leave, which trumps your personal leave, sir.”
The guy turns around, and stares daggers at me.
Keep in mind, I am blasted on several different narcotic, and have 50 stitches in my abdomen.
Then I see the single star on his collar....
Oh SH!T....

No updates yet on blue water vets, but my hope and expectation is VBA saw the writing on the wall and was preparing.

The current brown water ship list is exhaustive, so i would hope minimal effort is needed to add the blue water ships to the current list.

More to come as i find it out.

more for information as i suspect most here are not at or below this income level

if a veteran is at or below the va pension level they become copay free (meds and visits) and are also eligible for beneficiary travel; however they must submit an annual means test if this eligibility is due to reported income and not award of va pension (https://www.va.gov/pension/)

also some info on geriatric care as this often comes up

https://www.va.gov/geriatrics/

Have i mentioned power of attorney? If you're calling on behalf of a veteran, whether you're the spouse, nok, etc., either the veteran must giver verbal consent to speak with you or there must be a poa on file.

Remember when I was flying back to the mainland from Pearl Harbor and the stewardess told me to take any seat so I plopped my ass in 1st Class seat. As the plane was filling up some dude stops in front of me and says You are in my seat. I promptly told him to piss off and the stewardess told him it was a first come flight. He grumbled something and went back to coach. Made my day.

Just reviving an old thread.
If you or someone you care about needs help with the mind numbing bureaucracy that is the VA, please hit me up in this thread or by PM.

I’ll tell you trying to get a breakdown letter from the VA is a pain in the ass...

I’ll never understand the math, how is it to go from 90 to 100 u need like 50 more percent

Yes, VA math is even dumber than common core.

They way it works is this:
Lets say you have 2 rated disabilities, each at 50%, that's 100%, right???
WRONG!
The first disability gives you full credit for 50%. (Now, you are 50% disabled, AND 50% ABLE.)
The 2nd disability only applies to what is left (the percentage you are ABLE) so, you are 50% ABLE, and have another 50% disability (50% of 50 is 25%)
So you are now 75% disabled, which is rounded up to 80%
(your rating remains 75% for math purposes, but it is rounded up for pay purposes, so you are rated at 80%, paid at 80%, but if you add another disability rating you have to start at 75%)

There is a very good VA Rating calculator here: http://www.vvaarizona.org/combined_disability.php
It will show you your exact percentage.

I’ve got a buddy, veteran, dealing with some service related health issues. Spent years trying to get compensation. Multiple trips to the VA and doctors to get all his stuff documented, proven, and so on.

Then I saw him post that he was a fan of Bernie policies of universal healthcare...

Apparently his damage was more severe than I thought

Brain damage...
Sad!
#TheStruggleIsReal

It is...quite sad. Guy, for the most part, is a decent guy. Must have been too close to a few detonations when he was over seas.

The US Military is the strongest Socialist System in America. Its very common for a teenager to go in "American" and come out "Entitled"

It is really bad now....

I think its the same as its always was.

The difference is what decade of life does the "woke" happen? second, third, forth, fifth? Historically a vet got "woke" of his benefits after age 50. Now, its before exiting basic training.

Considering some benefits have timetables attached to them, i have no problems with Veterans being "woke" to them.

Losing your GI bill or ability to enroll for healthcare is bs, but its reality

It happened to me. I lost the GI Bill in 2015. It happens

I guess I can kinda understand...turn 18, join up, after some training be givin millions of dollars worth of gear, round the world travel, free hair cuts...

What’s funny is I remember my old man telling me stories of going through in the 60s. Some of the recruits/draftees came into the army from really rough home life’s. Growing up extremely poor and the like. Suddenly have dental care, health care, better food than they had ever had. Training was a breeze for many who had worked extreme labor in rough conditions. Many of them got trained in trades and after their service went home having made more money than they had ever had, a free trade education, and their teeth fixed.

Its still a true story for many. Depends on the job you pick. For me in the Infantry the only direct job I have ever found thats like 70% roll over is Nuclear Security and thats it. Many of the soft skills learned in the military apply to any job.
