Mexican police have found the bodies of nine people hanging from a bridge and seven more corpses hacked up and dumped on the road.

I read another article about this that said it was about control of the avocado trade... Lotta bodies over some fruit... Of course they've done worse over some weeds...

mi casa es tu casa? No?

Most figures I have come across indicate that about 2/3's of Hispanic voters vote for left leaning candidates. Pondering the implications..

Don't get me wrong, I'm pro immigration. I love Mexicans. I love the food, the culture, the language, the work ethic. I just want to see a locked down border and a sensible work visa program with checks and balances, and an end to anchor babies and handouts. Charge them track them, let them work, tax them, and send them home. If they bring value to our country give them an avenue (legally) towards citizenship...

I’d like to agree with you but I am struggling to figure out how a country and people that has been such a bad neighbor and created what they have in Mexico can be a benefit to our country.

Oh we can definitely use the labor. Minimum wage jobs need to be filled. Skilled construction workers are needed. It just needs to be regulated and taxed accordingly, while eliminating all the free benefits...

And don't get it twisted, part of the bad neighbor fault lies directly with our government.

Yes, for allowing the filth to infect us as well. And sure we need so e labor, but at what cost? Seems like it could be handled a whole lot better.

Most of those minimum wage jobs could be filled right here if we weren't paying people to stay home.

Of course it could be handled better. That's exactly what I said. Mexicans have and will continue to add to our country and culture just like just about every other country in the world. It's not all bad. Just like gun owners, most Mexicans are good people trying to get by like the rest of us. If our government wasn't so FUBAR, they wouldn't be able to take advantage of the system like they do. Remove the access and the incentive and set up a responsible system and everyone profits from it.

Hey, I like tacos too.

But I'm not ready for America to be turned into a third world "s" hole anytime soon.

And if mexicans were so hard working and "skilled" wouldn't mexico be one of the better looking places in the Americas?

Why do you think new construction is turning out some of the poorest looking stuff I've seen in a long time?

Might be due more to budget (ie: cheaper materials) and people wanting it NOW vs the builders themselves. Maybe. Maybe not.

This is what happens...... and these stats are just for Texas.

https://www.dps.texas.gov/administration/crime_records/pages/txcriminalalienstatistics.htm

Between June 1, 2011 and July 31, 2019, these 202,000 illegal aliens were charged with more than 317,000 criminal offenses which included arrests for 570 homicide charges; 35,019 assault charges; 6,040 burglary charges; 39,850 drug charges; 457 kidnapping charges; 16,783 theft charges; 25,122 obstructing police charges; 1,761 robbery charges; 3,752 sexual assault charges; 5,019 sexual offense charges; and 3,211 weapon charges. DPS criminal history records reflect those criminal charges have thus far resulted in over 127,000 convictions including 262 homicide convictions; 14,534 assault convictions; 3,335 burglary convictions; 18,904 drug convictions; 182 kidnapping convictions; 7,406 theft convictions; 11,855 obstructing police convictions; 1,063 robbery convictions; 1,845 sexual assault convictions; 2,457 sexual offense convictions; and 1,359 weapon convictions.

So the questions is could we not make decent tacos on our own? Do we need their tacos?:p

Are Mexicans, and to be fair, Hondurans, El Salvadorans etc really good people as a group? Sure we’ve all met or know good immigrants from the South, but as a group are they good? What evidence is there of their goodness? Outside of the media’s they are all good, hard working people looking for a better life.

As much as we are and any other group of people I imagine. I've had few bad experiences with people outside this country, including many trips to Mexico.

As someone who works around illegal aliens every week, (construction) they bring as many problems with them as they do benefits.
You have to teach them the same job everyday. That's why you often see aliens assigned to menial ditch-digging tasks. You can't let them near the electrical, plumbing etc. they'll botch it even though you just told them how to do it. Come tomorrow....repeat.

They want to build it like they did back home. If any of you have been out & around in Mexico and seen the methods they use you'd never let one near your house. Why do you think when they have a 6.0 earthquake in Mexico City 20,000 people die?
These people just can't/don't ever advance up the skill-set ladder. If your son was still digging ditches after 10 years on the job, would that not raise a flag to you?
Now transfer this same mindset into everything they do, as well as an attitude of feeling no obligation to assimilate to their host country beyond getting some money out of it...and I promise you at least half of that money is destined to be sent back home.

And I haven't even begun to address the social baggage that follow them like a lost puppy. See it for yourself at the DMV, hospital, your kid's school and the police station.

TL/DR; They vacuum as much or more resources out of this country as the resources they bring with them. It's break-even at the very best. Only you can decide for yourself if break-even is an acceptable situation for you and your family's future.

I work in the field too. There are plenty of capable Hispanic workers doing plumbing, electrical, and every other trade. Plenty of worthless pieces of crap out there too. That goes for the white guys, black guys, Asians, and everyone else too. A large segment of the construction trade is comprised of people too lazy or incompetent to do anything else. Contracting work is akin to herding retarded, lazy cats.

There's no way it's a break even under the current system... It's broken. With a properly executed system in place it could be a net gain.

All the complaints you have (and I share) could easily be fixed with a strong border, a functional value-based work visa system, and a no-excuses deportation policy.

On another note, if people weren't too cheap to pay for quality workers it would go a long way to fixing the problem. Plenty of dummies and slapdicks in the trades. Plenty of guys who are artisans and brilliant at what they do. As talented as anyone in any field but expected to make peanuts. Life is what it is. Sure isn't fair...

First people are people,

While I've not worked with Latinos on a daily basis I have attempted to SPOON Train a few of them, and it does not work! I can ATTEST to this first hand!

Overall I don't see many advancing and rolling into our (USA's ) culture very successfully. I am of the opinion most of them are Happy to import their old way of life here, minus the lack of running water.

While we here in The USA have running water ( a good thing) many from Central America Probably don't so that's a plus right there.
