Henry Adds a Gate

@NKD @thrillhill Y'all need to shoot my .41 carbine sometime. Great trigger, slicker 'n snot & fun. Recoil's negligible, even with 240gr that ran 1300fps from my 7.5"er (severed 2 of the support rods for the screens on my chrony before I got to the Henry. Lol!)

I've always been curious about .41 Magnum, how's it stack up?

It's a shame it isn't more popular.

Hits hard, shoots flat, less recoil than a .44Mag (really only .429). My 240gr load is well into typical .44 territory & isn't even breaking a sweat. Some swear they penetrate deeper that the .44 due to its sectional density advantage, but I can't speak to that. Yeah, you can push the .44 deep into the 'holy crap' zone, but that's not my idea of a good time.

Just a really fun round & the Goldilocks chambering when you want more than the .357, but don't care for all of the .44's sturm & drang. Downside is that ammo is $$$ if you don't reload, but if you do reload, ammo cost is comparable to .44.

Cool. I remember we got one of the short Ruger wheelguns in .41 as a trade in at the gun store and before I could express an interest a regular bought it before the previous owner was done with his purchase.

My first marlin was crap, its also my last marlin. If your hand/face is in front of the barrel while loading in the tube, you are doing it wrong.

When Henry chambers one in .35 Rem then I'll bite. Until I will enjoy my vintage pre-safety JM Marked Marlins and Winny M94s. I wont buy a levergun with a safety, therefore that's why there's no Puma or Rossi in the stable.
Those Uberti's tho........

I always thought the gate was to add for a quicker way to reload, than to have to fiddle with that damn plunger. I too an on the side of requiring a gate for my lever rifles.

Screw it, put a gate and the tube in one and make both camps happy.

You’ve obviously had little experience with Marlins (one), and no experience with a tuned Marlin. You also must not be aware that the Henry is a copy of the Marlin and is virtually identical internally.
