So I would like to buy an AK before the 2020 panic begins in earnest, but the market is way overpriced.

I found this on Atlantic’s website and could not find any reviews. It is a bit awkward looking but I like the weight (sub 7lbs).

Any thoughts?

In a nutshell, it's an expensive parts kit build. Granted, some nice parts are included, but unless you legitimately plan to SBR it I don't really see the point, especially at that price point.

Is this your first AK? Do you have any AK mags and/or 7.62x39 ammo? Do you want one just to have one or as an investment/potential flip down the road if 2A stuff goes south? Personall, I don't see this thing as a good investment. If you want an AK just to have an AK, Atlantic has the WASR in stock. It's $400 cheaper, weighs all of about 9 ounces more, and will do everything this hybrid build will do. Plus, with the leftover funds you can add a couple thousand rounds of ammo, or a case and 10-20 mags.

Have ammo, will need mags.

Really want a nice rifle to keep and shoot. I’m not interested in flipping.

You can do a lot better for 1200 bucks
Yep. Mak90's, SAR-1's, WASR's are all cheaper.
In that price range, you can probably find a rear converted Saiga or an unconverted Vepr.
I'm leery of the PSA's, but they seem to be improving.

+1 on the vepr and saiga, have both and the they are good to go!

but I like the looks of the psa ak, might pull the trigger on one of them.

Everything @charliesgrave said. You can get a Milled SLR-95, 1000 rds of ammo and probabaly 10-15 surplus mags for 1200.

Maybe in NC, but prices here are much higher and there aren’t nearly the same number of guns in CO.

There are many great lgs with huge inventories and the local private used market be it this forum or armslist have a lot to offer.

There are many great deals on this forum that languish unsold (I’m thinking Kel-tec RDB) that would get scooped up in a heartbeat around here.

I don't know anything about AK's, but something about the look of this gun just looks right to me. The proportions. Is it the shorter barrel? I can't detect what is different. Help me out.

With same-ish stock but side folder and sbr, that would be neat.
I need to just stay out of these AK threads. DO NOT NEED, lol.

The one in OP's thread has a combo front sight/gas block. Traditional AK's, they're separate.

Top rifle has combo block, bottom is standard AK. Changes the balance a little bit and shortens your sight radius, which doesn't really do you any favors.

The barrel is shorter than normal, with a pinned muzzle device.

Really what I’m looking for is something more accurate under sustained fire than my mini 30. Secondary objective would like it to be on the lighter side.

You need me to ship you one?

You need me to ship you one?

Maybe, I actually called my FFL last Monday to see if they would except transfers from non FFLs and if so what they needed/what their process is.

I’ll keep you posted, but really wanting to spend money on an AK. Perhaps I’ll take both, transfer and shipping on one isn’t much more for two.
