I called the wildlife department and the sheriffs department when I had dog troubles.
They both said the same thing.

My wife and I carry when we are walking the dogs. One never knows when one may encounter a fool that can't control a dangerous dog.Glad it turned out well. I would’ve done the same, no doubt.
I’m not a dog person. Been bit 3x as a child. I love my dogs and those that are really well trained/behaved. I won’t hesitate to defend myself from an aggressive dog, I value my safety far more than their life.
Not second guessing you, I'd have likely done the same thing. But how many dogs have you had to shoot down there? Is it the same people? Or am I mixing your situation up with somebody else? Glad everyone is OK.
It’s more so on the owner than anything. Not really sure why the breed matters, any dog can be aggressive. Isn’t the dog most likely to bite a weenie dog? I’ve had all kinds of dogs, including a pit bull mix and never once had an issue with aggression.
I love animals but that love ends when they become aggressive towards me or my family. If the animal can’t be controlled then it needs to go.

Weenie dogs are damn vicious fighters. Trained to hunt and drag badgers out of holes. They go for the throat when they fight. Mine never bit anyone but she would show those fangs if she didn’t want touched. Rarely trusted anyone for the first 10 minutes then up on the lap when comfortable. But don’t dare try to remove her from under a bed or piece of furniture. Did not play with other dogs. Other dogs beware. Yes I could see them most likely to bite. Not really sure why the breed matters, any dog can be aggressive. Isn’t the dog most likely to bite a weenie dog? People that do that should be chained to a rock... at the bottom of a pond.

We call that the Mary Poppins. He got smacked by an umbrella after that then he calmed down.
It's breedism, plain and simple. Not really sure why the breed matters, any dog can be aggressive. Isn’t the dog most likely to bite a weenie dog? I’ve had all kinds of dogs, including a pit bull mix and never once had an issue with aggression.

Umbrellas work surprisingly well for most breeds. They start snapping at you, just deploy it and it usually freaks them out. If it doesn't, most are too dumb to get around it and you can use it as a shield. Doesn't work with Pitts.I’ve been bit by a chihuahua. He got smacked by an umbrella after that then he calmed down.
Might be mixing me up.
I’ve shot 2 dogs in my entire lifetime. The other time was a stray that looked really sick and was acting very strange, wouldn’t let me near him to check him out, became aggressive. 7 years ago maybe. That was more of a humane put down. Didn’t want to risk him spreading anything. I don’t even know if I’ve ever shared that. Possibly have.
I pepper sprayed a pit bull attacking an older black guy riding a bicycle 3-4 years ago. Guy was having to keep the bike between him and the dog. Those neighbors across the main road still live there, and still have the same pit bull tied up in the front yard. I’ve recently had new neighbors move at the end of the street, several pit bulls tied up in the yard. My neighborhood has become a drug haven for both white and black race users / sellers who act uncivilized, add to that some aholes. I’m surrounded. Use to be a decent place. I’m honestly ready to move. Really thinking about selling, moving near the beach’s in Brunswick County or west toward Kanapolis / Concord areas.

APBTs came into existence as a result of breeding for pit fighting. They were bred for various traits, including game. It's in their genes (sound familiar?).^Right, at one time they were good dogs. The breed was forever ruined awhile back.
