I shipped a scope to a buyer this morning by UPS. They say new rules make a scope a firearm part, and require a signature on delivery. I don’t like the way the postal service treats packages sometimes, but I guess I’ll start using them again.

Weird. I always just said "optics" and I guess they assumed it was a camera part. Can't control their assumptions!

Fedex ground is cheaper and faster than anything that begins with a U and ends with an S
FudEx drops boxes 1/4mi away from our home at the neighborhood entrance for any ner’do well to swipe. Three homes complaining for 2 years and no change.

I'm asking for information, not to be snarky: how do they know it's a scope?

I’m the exact opposite. I hate UPS and Fedex and have never had bad luck with post office

They always ask what’s in the package. If I had to use the insurance I paid for, it would certainly be denied if I lied about the packages content.

I think you can log in on their website and designate a place for drop like your back porch.
We have no one pirate pitching us, we’re not near neighbors. We’ve contacted the regional managers many, many times to avail.
When he does deliver in the neighborhood, we get each other’s packages.

I have USPS and FedEx account, print my own labels and drop the box at FedEx or my mail carrier takes it no questions asked.
Print on plain paper and use glue stick.
Priority mail flat rate boxes.

Do have another house same number but different street name, we get each other mail.

FedEx is the only one that ever damaged anything coming to my house. USPS does fine it's just slow.

UPS for everything else!

you can also use Paypal (gasp!) to get a discount with either the USPoorestService or FedEx, print a label and drop it off at the nearest Fedex Office. They never say a word to me whether I'm shipping a gun or a dead hooker.

Nothing but bad experiences with Fedex. I'm waiting on a replacement shipment from Brownells after Fedex mis-delivered three figures worth of gun parts to Klamath Falls, Oregon.
This after it went from Brownells to New Mexico, from New Mexico to California, from Cali to Washington, from Washington back to Cali, and then finally was delivered in Oregon.

The time before that they busted open a 1K round case of 7.62x39, threw loose handfuls back in a new box and repackaged it. I ended up receiving 700+ rounds still in the box and about 100 more rolling around. Brownells was again good enough to send me the difference.

Wonder how much time and money Brownells loses shipping with Fedex?

Ive been shipping FEDEX exclusively for at least 5 years because their rates were cheaper, their website easier to use to print prepaid shippers and they didnt make my blood pressure spike like walking into a USPS facility. I would drop stuff off at FEDEX/KINKOS and they never asked me anything other than, "you wanna receipt?" until the other day. "What are we shipping for you today?" Oh s#it. It was projectiles but I didnt want to explain that so I said, lead, brass and copper parts. She said OK. I send and receive brass using Priority Mail because my brass guy uses them exclusively. That works pretty well and I just put it in my mailbox. It has never asked me what I was shipping.

Machine tools. Ham radio parts. Cold Fusion Helium Reactor.
