So I want to shoot these 245gr Missouri coated lead bullets. They are flat nose and feed horribly. I've grinded the two feed ramps pretty good but apparently lot enough. Heavy jacked, pointy bullets feed just fine. What would be the issue with grinding the middle of the two ramps to almost nothing?

You may end up with a weapon that will consistently and reliably cycle only one specific cartridge/bullet style. Once you remove enough steel to get the flats to feed, you may have issues should you try to go back to spitzers/spires.

What he said. Permanent fixes for one situation are well..........permanent.

1k boolits cost more than a cheap barrel so I say go for it. It's only as permanent as a barrel swap which isn't a big deal at all.

btw how many did you buy? are we talking 100s or thousands?

After the Conway shoot last year I zeroed in on a load with these same bullets that fed fine except when the load was really light. I'm loading at the top end of that. So I made up 500 and i have another box of 500 to go. It doesn't look like a FTF due to load but bullet shape. You'll see dents on the noses of some of them where they are hitting the some part of the ramp.

With M4 feed ramps you would compromise the receiver and barrel original design. But if the cost of the components justify the means go for it!
