We asked for the civilian version of the MP7, they give us a 50 year old design 20 companies already make a version of. They can’t figure out why they are going bankrupt.

That’s because “HK” stands for “Hates Kustomers”, civilian customers particularly.

You related to the Bondurants out of Franklin County VA?

And it seems like the least consumer friendly version, at the highest price. Plain stupid, if you ask me... and even if you didn’t.

It's my second day on this forum lol. I'm sure I'll get around to it

This forum is much more than a BST, we’re a big Ol dysfunctional family. Like most, we tend to take care of folks; thus the gentle reminders about being a vendor. We take care of our vendors and send as much biz their way as possible, so having non-vendors show up and advertise for free gets some of the members a bit saucy.

I hope you stick around! Sounds like you know what’s what.

@The Freedom Peddler your profile says Snow Camp, do you have a storefront? I'm in the Siler City Area.

I will be looking into it for sure

They are already selling on GB and at dealers. Best price I saw as $2699 + $35 shipping from Osage. They supposedly had 5 and sold out fast. Word on the street is 500 shipped in 2019 and 500 more will arrive in Jan. People are already gauging to the $3999 range.

Dude. We’ve said it nicely. More than once.

You gotta be a paid sponsor/vendor to advertise here.
I cant tell if your joking or being serious. If joking I do plan to look into before I post any thing for sell.

If your serious I'll be looking into it for sure soon.

Serious.

Until you’re a sponsor, you just need to knock off talking about FFL stuff, transfers, ordering, pricing, etc. period. It is by definition unfair to the vendors that pay to keep the lights on around here.

@Butter is your guy with all the details! I sincerely hope you stick around!

@Tim thank you for sticking up for the vendors. I should have caught that myself.

Since my other thread got locked I will post this here. I was hoping to start a clean thread, minus the pissing and moaning about vendor status, which actually contained some information about the pistol but I guess not.

So it appears the rumors have come true and HK has brought back the MP5 to the US.

https://hk-usa.com/hk-models/sp5/

It is hard to tell what the price should be. MSRP is $2799 People have been selling between $2600 and $3000+. From what I understand 500 have it the shores and 500 more will arrive in Jan. People are already gauging and auctions on GB are well above MSRP. Best real world price was $2699 + $35 shipping from Osage County guns. People say it won't take a sear pack but most of us don't have the coin to drop one in anyway. It does have a proper Trilug. People are also saying that a proper SP5K with a Navy Barrel and paddle mag release is also due to arrive in 2020. @HMP

I wonder if it will except trigger groups from other HKs

I think I’d buy one, but the first wave is gone or soon to be gone. Probably smart marketing, I’ll just wait for the hulabaloo to pass. Do hate that it’s gonna cost another $600 to put a stock on it.

PSA was trying to introduce theirs around the $900 price point. We are still waiting.

$900 seems reasonable. Shelling out enough money to buy a running automobile for a stamped sheet metal PCC doesn't.

Those are my thoughts exactly. The MP5 has been around for 40 years. The machinery that stamps out the parts have long since been paid for by cushy military contracts. At the price they're asking, I'm expecting flawless performance, match grade accuracy, and features more common on customized firearms.

I think that the are actually a lot more labor intensive than more modern guns. The machinery is has been refreshed many times since its introduction. As Forgotten Weapons alluded to I think HK would be happy if they could replace the MP5 with a more modern easier to produce gun but the buying public both civilian and Military/LEO still want the MP5 so they are stuck making it. If it was so easy to make a $900 MP5 clone people would have already done it. The fact that no one has been able to get one to market tells you something. The lowest price clones are the blem guns from POF and they are like $1300 and are that price because they are using 3rd world labor to build them. I don't think they should cost $2700 but I think that $700-$900 is not realistic.

Having shot both the clone and the SP5K, you can tell a difference in the way it operates and overall feel (fit/finish). It's a lot more than just rolling a flat to ensure the tolerances are met and there isn't too much play. The HK is worth the extra coin if you can afford it.

Which clones have you shot?

Ive always liked the look of them, however at that price point I do feel they are somewhat of a rich mans play thing. There are now many other options for very cost effective alternatives that have proven to be reliable and fill the niche well. Not sure, specifically, what this does better than say a Scorpion which is a fraction of the cost.

One thing to note, the SP5K is sighted, from the factory, at a longer distance than I'd like for a 9mm subgun. The CZ Scorpion Evo 3 is the best bang for your buck, but they're still not as nice as the HK.

That said, I still own my CZ Scorpion Evo 3 SBR and replaced the SP5K with another MR556.
