Once again Smok3y was our winner with a score of 680! Congratulations! Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and looking forward to a Merry Christmas! We will have a new target up soon.

Smok3y gave the OK to post up a new target in the other thread, so I offer up the following challenge. This was originally intended as an airgun silhouette target, but we're going to try it at 50 yards.

Everyone up for the challenge?

Just printed some. Still need to shoot the previous target as well.

And for those that haven’t printed it, or noticed it on the screen...the white dots are definitely smaller on the bottom four rows than the top four.

What range(s) and position(s) do the airgunners use for shooting at this???

After I give it a try with my .22LR, I may save it and use it for practice with my Benjamin Marauder!

yeah. Those are dime and quarter sized targets.......at 50 yards. I may try it with the Marlin bolt gun but yeah. My expectations are low :D

Buncha whiners!! We’ve had some much smaller targets in the past...and I attempted most of them with a 2-7 scope. In case you forgot:

Now print some targets, grab your rifle and ammo, and start shooting!!

:p

And that right there is why I said the dots in the center wouldn’t matter as much. Unless you have some larger magnification, the dots will be hard to see. Best to focus on hitting the animals first. I almost tried one of these games with peeps once, and I put that rifle away after a few seconds.

They have classes like most shooting competitions. But like he said in his response, the historical range was usually 20-45yards but the steel targets are different sizes. The animals get larger the further back you go. If you were shooting those in a competition, those distances would be reserved for lower power rifles and/or have scope limitations. Higher power rifles would push them back further.

Yep, 50 yards indoors with benches and target return system. $15 per hour for members, 20 for non-members. I don't do it much but it is nice for an hour or so of no weather bothers.

They will laser bore sight your rifle before you shoot. They've had some yoyo's come in the to zero their scopes and started shooting up the place.

Ok I gave it a go... CZ 455 tacticool, Athlon Ares BTR 2.5-15-50, SK Rifle Match. 53 degrees and sunny, variable winds around 3mph according to my weather app.

50 points total. Pretty happy with those results with my cross hairs basically covering the entire critter! Haha. I may try again in a few days.

Well done.

I remember shooting some of the others when I had the 2-7 by line up the reticle on the targets on each side and top/bottom. Couldn’t see the actual target one bit. :D

My glass is woefully underpowered for this, but I gave it a shot and had some fun with it.

CZ455 varmint w/Vortex 3-9x shooting Aguila Super Extra. Prone with a sling Appleseed style. Went bottom to top and figured out my hold over as I went. Also couldn't see most of the holes so I fubar'ed the 2 line and shot twice at the first chicken inbetween mag changes. Count that a penalty of 1 and I shot 11.

I’m glad more are participating.

I count a couple (I think it was 14-1) more points than that, but maybe they’re tears and not hits.

I about did the same thing! I actually walked down range between mags because for the life me couldn't remember which one is already shot. After that I found that only loading 5 rounds in each mag made it a lot easier to keep track of where I was on the target. New mag, new line!

Today would have been a great day. My boss was gone and I wanted to ditch so bad!

Glad to see more people shooting. And you know I like seeing the CZs out there. Show off the rifles too!

Great to see some new shooters! We always enjoy seeing your targets and pictures of your setup. Keep up the great shooting!

I will probably shoot this on about 18 power. It may also help to shoot some standard velocity ammo. Just my lowly opinion.

I haven't found any standard stuff that shoots all that well in this rifle. Granted, I haven't tried any "match" quality ammo.

CCI SV has shot “well” in most of my CZs, and SK STD+ has shot much better in a couple of them for not much more. If you try out some “match” ammo, it might be well worth it. SK Rifle Match has shot well for me usually (except my current batch) without costing too much.

I've been meaning to suggest that there be two winners in these challenges -- one in the "iron sights" and one in the "scoped" division

...except that the prize is picking the next target. Are there going to be two targets next time? and then two winners from each of those, so four the next time?

Okay, then run two separate challenges.
Or, allow only the iron sights winner to pick, because "muh difficulty level".
Or, require use of iron sights only. (And if that is deemed "too difficult", shorten the range to 25 yards.)

I thought the real point was friendly competition and bragging rights.

Challenge is open to any rimfire. Iron sights or optics, .22 or .17 and if you win with iron sights, you sure do have somthing to bragg about!:)

If you win this month with iron sights you have earned not just the right to pick the next target, but probably a sponsorship, some serious product endorsements, and maybe your face on an optometrists billboard!!

I think keeping it open is the point of friendly competition. I see it as just a way to shoot with the guys, see some people try some different types of shooting, and just have fun. We don’t have that many people that have jumped in to shoot anyway. For most of us, I think it is really more about having fun and seeing what we can do with the target. That is how I look at it. I don’t worry about if I can win or not, but I just have a blast trying to do my best on these tiny targets.
