We moved into our house about 4yr ago and the laundry room is a decent size but lacked the storage and utility we wish it had.
Despite having no experience doing remodeling, I watched a dozen or so YouTube videos and decided to tackle the project. I love YouTube haha!
This started in April, I did it in stages, took some breaks between stages, and finally finished it recently as we have our first baby due any day now and I suspect time for big projects won’t be so readily available.
Before:
I started by tackling the demo & flooring while my wife was out of town for the weekend. A friend with demo and restoration experience helped me during this part. Began by ripping out the well-built MDF base built by the previous home owner. Then ripped up the vinyl floor and underlayment. Installed new luan underlayment and Lowe’s/Shaw LVP.
My wife later painted the room and I installed an additional outlet that would be above the countertop.
Next I was able to find a countertop. It was actually a large Formica island that was removed and sat in a garage for 8yr so I got it for a steal! This worked out reallllly well since it was plenty deep for the washer/dryer, and it’s not difficult to cut with a circular saw and 60T carbide blade.
Before I could install the countertop, I had to build the cabinets.
Tall base cabinet
30” wall cabinet
24” Utility cabinet
6 laundry basket storage rack
