Anyone a fan? Space cowboys rejoice or will they completely ruin it?

Yet, in real life Joss Whedon is a severe leftist anti-gunner who really identifies with everything the Browncoats fought against.
It reminds me of Mark Hamill, ...
Whedon is very good at writing strong independent characters that are a role model for all of us. I just let that be what it do and call it good enough.
Loved the show still watch it all the time in the movie. As much as I would love to see the series come back. Nathan Fillion has his own cop show now. Is he going to walk away from the rookie to play Mal?
...
The series suffered the same fate as the Browncoats. I think that was one reason it got the cult following it did. Mostly, it was JW's wit.Well, they definitely had lightening in a bottle. The tragedy of the cancellation made it even more adored imho. I don't think it ever resonated with the great unwashed ala' the Kardashians, but to those select few it was shiny.
With the myriad of channels producing content for niche markets seems very doable. Look at the Whitcher series. Netflix and now Amazon are making content like mad men. Maybe there is room for something like Firefly. The writing was great and as has been said, the characters were really good.
Nathan Fillion is probably key to it though. At least some guest spots if it was a spin off would be necessary.

Larry Corria wrote about the special level of hell where they will put the network executives who cancelled Firefly.
Because of Shepherd's comments to Mal about the operative, I assumed he had been one in his past life.I oddly loved the movie. I could tell they were trying to pack as much in as possible to make the fans happy while wrapping up a story line. Sucks the deaths though, Shepherd Book was one of my favorites. Always wanted to know where he learned all of his awesomeness.

Well, yeah, there were hints, but I was looking forward to it being a story line that would get developed.

There was a comic made on it. HE wasn't really Book. He killed Book and took his identity. He had also been a double agent who had become a high ranking officer in the alliance and was responsible for the death of MANY alliance soldiers before being discharged for his "mistake". He found God in a bowl of soup.Well, yeah, there were hints, but I was looking forward to it being a story line that would get developed.
I’ve been filling the “small ship, small crew, decent sci-fi” jones with The Expanse. I’m in season 2 and so far it’s worth a watch.
Expanse is good solid traditional hard Science Fiction. Love it.I’ve been filling the “small ship, small crew, decent sci-fi” jones with The Expanse. I’m in season 2 and so far it’s worth a watch.

It's definitely a slow-burn show. Takes some time to really get goingI have struggled to get into the Expanse. I've had three false starts with it over the past couple years.

Any reboot will have a gender neutral character. Just wait. Possibly a planet where some chemical makes a genetic change.

I liked Firefly, but I couldn't stand the girl from the freezer and her annoying brother. I think the show would have been 2X as good if they'd just booted them both out an airlock at the first opportunity.
Ok how mean am I?
This thread made me want to watch the series again. My son started watching it with me and he really likes it, asking me to pause it when he has to go to the bathroom.
I haven't told him that it was cancelled prematurely yet.
